Unhappy We love each other but can't be together...

If you could help me with the songs (I'd prefer anything gothic, metal, rock, epic, pagan/folk; very melodic, rather fast, with a beat or drums) for my situation, I'd be so very grateful!

    So here's my story -
there's a man I'm in love with for more than a year (the same with him). There are no love triangles, we're both currently single. But still we decided not to be together because there are sooooo many differences between us (that love wouldn't be able to conquer).

    Some of the most significant:
    religion (I believe in God, he doesn't);
    social status (I'm socially active, with many friends, attending parties every weekend, while he's unsocial and practically an outcast);
values in life (mine is- family; I'm not sure he even has ANY values (except for the love for me)).

Basically I'm seeking for the songs (well, yes I know how cliche it sounds...) about a tipical good girl and a typical bad guy, who can't live without each other, yet probably wouldn't be able to live together too; and about their possible future together (or apart for that matter...).

Sorry for the lack of briefness in this thread
I'll be truly and utterly grateful for any song suggestions!!
When I'm with you, you're killing me. When I'm not, I'm dying...

I don't see any major reason why you can't be together, but here's a beautiful song that might help you right now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XhufW7-c_k

Love Will Find A Way (NOT the Christina Agulera one. It's from a Disney...XD Sorry, but it feels like you TOTALLY need to listen to this right now.)

Thanks so very much for the song suggestion, TheMusicLuvR You were absolutely right, I found the lyrics truly inspirational )

As for the reasons - there are more, not only those I mentioned, but still deep in my heart I DO believe that we will be together someday. He just has to become a little better person and I need to get a little worse

    Heart - Magic Man

Cold late night so long ago
When I was not so strong you know
A pretty man came to me
    Never seen eyes so blue
    I could not run away
It seemed wed seen each other in a dream
It seemed like he knew me
    He looked right through me
Come on home, girl he said with a smile
You dont have to love me yet
    Lets get high awhile
    But try to understand
    Try to understand
    Try try try to understand
    Im a magic man.

Winter nights we sang in tune
Played inside the months of moon
    Never think of never
    Let this spell last forever
    Summer over passed to fall
    Tried to realize it all
    Mama says shes worried
    Growing up in a hurry

Come on home, girl mama cried on the phone
Too soon to lose my baby yet my girl should be at home!
But try to understand, try to understand
    Try try try to understand
    Hes a magic man, mama
    Hes a magic man

Come on home, girl he said with a smile
I cast my spell of love on you a woman from a child!
But try to understand, try to understand
    Im a magic man!

Nick Cave has a great album which picks up on the religious theme you refer to - its "Boatman's Call". I'm sure (based only on a hunch) that in some way all the songs are about a girl he loved but couldn't have because of some faith/religious barriers (i'm happy to be corrected, but that's what I've taken out of it).

In particular I'm thinking of the song "Into My arms":

"I don't believe in an interventionist God
But I know, darling, that you do
But if I did I would kneel down and ask Him
Not to intervene when it came to you
Not to touch a hair on your head
To leave you as you are
And if He felt He had to direct you
Then direct you into my arms"

and also (ref: his belief in you but not a higher being) "there is a Kingdom"

"just like a bird that sings up the sun
In a dawn so very dark
Such is my faith for you
    Such is my faith
And all the world's darkness can't swallow up
    A single spark
Such is my love for you
    Such is my love

    There is a kingdom
    There is a king
    And he lives without
    And he lives within

I related to this album myself once, in a very personal way. Its a cracker, but very depressing.

    Goodluck!

    "Without You" by Harry Nilsson

(I prefer Harry's original version but you might like the cover by Mariah Carey)

...why not Paranoid, by Black Sabbath?!? here you are the lyrics:

    Finished with my woman
'cause she couldn't help me with my mind
    People think I'm insane
because I am frowning all the time

All day long I think of things
    but nothing seems to satisfy
    Think I'll lose my mind
if I don't find something to pacify

Can you help me, occupy my brain?
    Oh yeah
I need someone to show me
the things in life that I can't find
I can't see the things that make true happiness,
    I must be blind

Make a joke and I will sigh
and you will laugh and I will cry
    Happiness I cannot feel and
love to me is so unreal

And so as you hear these words
telling you now of my state
I tell you to enjoy life
I wish I could but it's too late

...talking about men wiyh no passions or enthusiasm...maybe it's a bit too negative but after all, it' a great song!

    Oh no,
    here it is again
    I need to know
when I will fall in decay

    Something wrong
with every plan of my life
I didn't really notice that you've been here

    Dolefully desired
    Destiny of a lie

    Set me free
    your heaven's lie
set me free with you love
    set me free

    Oh no,
    here it is again
    I need to know
why did I choose to betray you

    Something wrong
with all the plans of my life
    I didn't realize that you've been here

    Dolefully desired
    Destiny of a lie

    Set me free
    your heaven's lie
set me free with you love
    set me free
Now I’m standing close to you
It’s just something that I do
When I need love to be enough
I wish love could be enough

    Especially nnloso, that was witty!

You reminded me of some really good songs I had forgotten (everything you want; heaven's a lie; over the hills and far away) and also gave completely new ideas )

I'm in a simuliar situation and find myself listening to this song alot.. "Taking Over Me" By Evanescence

    "Once You Love Somebody" Journey

Two young hearts lost in love they vow to stay,
Running wild they believe they've found a way
    Filled with hope
She's the dream, she understands you
Now this time He'll hold on, she'll never leave him
    They'll never let go 'cause...

Once you love somebody, (once you love)
There's no turning back (turning back)
It can burn forever, it can haunt you, haunt you in the night

How can lovers just turn and walk away
Loneliness is an edge that cuts both ways
    So easy to fall
    So hard to get over
