    Default composed by Kim Goody??

It's probably composed by Kim Goody, according to IMDB.

Here are some links to a couple of other shows that Goody apparently wrote the themes to, around the same period. Perhaps you'll notice some similarities, and maybe that will get you down the right track.

It also sounds a bit in the style of Herb Alpert's theme to Casino Royale:

    or Al Hirt's Fancy Pants:

BTW, both of those should sound very familiar to people who watch SNL regularly:

Hope this is at least entertaining, if it doesn't help any

    Default Fireman Sam

The second link you posted is Fireman Sam, composed and arranged for the show of the same name by Ben Heneghan and Ian Lawson:

Do you have (ie. can you create) a smaller mp3 of the backgroud music. Not everyone has broadband.

The first link which is shorter, the 22.3 MB flv file is still a bit too big for me to schedule into the nights download activities.

You will need either a converter, or a program to capture sound card when you're playing the video.

Use google to find a free converter. key words - rip (or extract) audio from video

or type in the video file type extension, along with mp3 and converter.

    http://www.aoamedia.com/audioextractor.htm

Actually I had a look out of curiosity, and it does a lot of the MS operating systems, and even does flv. Should be able to snip out a clear section of the backing music without too much trouble.

Flv files, like the format that youtub likes to play with, you could use if you wanted

    http://www.ripzor.com/flvtomp3.html

    I haven't used either programs.

If you are capturing the sound card, rather than using a converter, then you need only "record" a section which has the clearest backing music playing.

Also unless the backing music is playing all the time, it's a good idea (However trying to find a free and decent mp3 editor could be difficult) after creating the mp3 from the video, to create an edited (as well as smaller) version with the backing music when it's the clearest.

As per request. I quickly discovered once I had a mp3, it was only the first few seconds of each clip.

Dantv kindly offered 3 links which were processed to have mp3. Listening to them, it was only the first few seconds which were relevant. I have bundled the three files into a zip. (See link below - 386Kb)

I do recognise the background in the largest mp3 sample.

I'm very foggy at the moment, I've been searching a few tapes the past couple of days, and "perhaps" tired of pulling the cover off to clean the heads.

I keep on thinking of a female performer, (Lady Gaga, but it sort of doesn't mesh). But the song I've in mind has the blond doing her "dance" in a pink swim suit.

It might be enough of a clue for someone else.
