I was drifting along on life's--------sea when a stately ol vessel---------

When loudly I cried Ship ahoy, ship ahoyyyy, And loudly I cried Ship a hoy

Well, It's the old ship of Zion
It's the old ship of zion
It's the old ship of zion
Get on board get on board get on board

She hath landed, many a pilgrim
She hath landed many a pilgrim
She hath landed many a pilgrim
Get on board, get on board, get on board

Ain't no danger, in these waters

"The Old Ship Of Zion" is a traditional Black Gospel song. The author is unknown.
There seems to be multiple versions of this song. Here are some I found:

    THAT OLD SHIP OF ZION

I was standing on the banks of the river
Looking out over life’s troubled sea
When I saw that ole ship that was sailing
Is that the ole ship of Zion I see.

Its hull was bent and battered
From the storms of life I could see
Waves were rough but that ole ship kept sailing
Is that the ole ship of Zion I see.

At the stern of the ship stood the captain
I could hear as he called out my name
Get on board it’s the ole ship of Zion
It will never pass this way again

As I step on board I’ll be leaving
All my sorrows and heartaches behind
I’ll be safe with Jesus the captain
Sailing out on the ole ship of Zion.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tis the old ship of Zion
Tis the old ship of Zion
Tis the old ship of Zion
Get on board, get on board.

She has landed many a thousand
She has landed many a thousand
She has landed many a thousand
Get on board, get on board.

    King Jesus is her Captain
    King Jesus is her Captain
    King Jesus is her Captain
Get on board, get on board.

There's no danger in her tempests
There's no danger in her tempests
There's no danger in her tempests
Get on board, get on board.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What ship is this that's landed at the shore?
    Oh, Glory Hallelujah!
'Tis the old ship of Zion, Hallelujah!
'Tis the old ship of Zion, Hallelujah!

Is the mast all sure, and the timber all sound?
    Oh, Glory, Hallelujah!
She's built of Gospel timber, Hallelujah!
She's built of Gospel timber, Hallelujah!

What kind of men does she have on board?
    Oh, Glory Hallelujah!
    They're all true-hearted soldiers, Hallelujah!
    They're all true-hearted soldiers, Hallelujah!

What kind of captain does she have on board?
    Oh, Glory Hallelujah!
King Jesus is the captain, Hallelujah!
King Jesus is the captain, Hallelujah!

Oh, do you think she will be able to land us on the shore?
    Oh, Glory Hallelujah!
I think she will be able, Hallelujah!
I think she will be able, Hallelujah!

She has landed over thousands, and can land as many more
    Oh, Glory Hallelujah!
She'll land us on Canaan bright shore, Hallelujah!
She'll land us on Canaan bright shore, Hallelujah!

Default The old ship of Zion, Get on board

The old ship of Zion... get on board

    VS. 1
I was drifting along on life's pestilent sea, when the angry waves threatened my ruin to be, when away at my side there I faintly described a stately old vessel and loudly I cried, Ship Ahoy, Ship Ahoy, and loudly I cried SHIP AHOY!

    VS. 2
Well I got up, but I hesitated, wondering who this friend could be, and the waves were crashing around me, it seemed like they would swallow me, but then he raised his hand toward me and he calmed that troubled sea, and he spoke so sweet and gently he said come, come, come and follow me..

    Chorus...
Its the old ship of Zion, its the old ship of Zion, it’s the old ship of Zion, get on board, get on board, get on board.

She has landed many a pilgrim...

Ain't no danger in these waters...

    Etc.

As performed in Bakersfield California by the First United Pentecostal Church choir!!
