    Default Theatre of Tragedy - Cassandra | English to Spanish (Please)

    Please somebody helps me with this. Honestly, I have not any idea how to translate so many words in this song . .. I feel so frustrated now and at the moment, I'm toooooo lazy and tired to look for their translation/meaning in the dictionary... They are too much that I don't know!!!

    Thanks in advance!!!!!

    Artist/Group: Theatre of Tragedy
    Song: Cassandra

    He gave to her, yet tenfold claimed in return -
    She hath no life but the one he for her wrought;
    Proffered to her his walking heart - she turned it down,
    Reposted with a tell-tale lore of lies and scorn.

    Prophetess or fond?,
    Though her parle of truth:
    "I can tomorrow - refell me if ye can!",
    Yet the kiss and breath - Apollo's bane -
    Sëer of the future, not of twain,
    "Sicker!", quoth Cassandra.

    Still, is she lief and quaint in his eye, a sight divine? -
    A mistress fueled by his prest haughtiness -
    If he did grant, wherefore then did he not foresee,
    Belike egal as it to him might be?!

    Prophetess or fond?,
    Though her parle of truth:
    "I can tomorrow - refell me if ye can!",
    Yet the kiss and breath - Apollo's bane -
    Sëer of the future, not of twain,
    "Sicker!", quoth Cassandra.

    'Or was he an eried being,
    'Or was he weening - alack nay mo;
    Her naysay' rought his heart,
    Her daffing was the grave of all hope -
    She belied her own words,
    He thought her life, save moreo'er scourge,
    She held him august, yet wee;
    He left her ne'er without his heart.

    Though her parle of truth:
    "I can tomorrow - refell me if ye can!",
    Yet the kiss and breath - Apollo's bane -
    Sëer of the future, not of twain,
    "Sicker!", quoth Cassandra.

    'Or was he an eried being,
    'Or was he weening - alack nay mo;
    Her naysay' rought his heart,
    Her daffing was the grave of all hope

    No estoy nada segura de esta traducción. Este lenguaje es muy arcaico. *La línea con asterisco no la traduje yo. La tomé de WR (autora: Cassie Beltari.) Espero que te sirva.

    Artist/Group: Theatre of Tragedy
    Song: Cassandra

    He gave to her, yet tenfold claimed in return -
    She hath no life but the one he for her wrought;
    Proffered to her his walking heart - she turned it down,
    Reposted with a tell-tale lore of lies and scorn.

    Él le daba a ella, mas reclamaba diez veces a cambio -
    Ella no tiene vida aparte de la que él por ella ha forjado;
    Ofrecido a ella el corazón ambulante - ella lo rechazó,

    Fijado de nuevo con una tradición reveladora de mentira y desprecio*

    Prophetess or fond?,
    Though her parle of truth:
    "I can tomorrow - refell me if ye can!",
    Yet the kiss and breath - Apollo's bane -
    Sëer of the future, not of twain,
    "Sicker!", quoth Cassandra.

    ¿Profetisa o cariñosa?,
    Aunque sus palabras de verdad:
    "Mañana sí puedo - ¡desmiénteme si puedes!",
    No obstante el beso y la respiración - la perdición de Apollo -
    Vidente del futuro, no de dos,
    "¡Más enfermo!", ha dicho Cassandra.

    Still, is she lief and quaint in his eye, a sight divine? -
    A mistress fueled by his prest haughtiness -
    If he did grant, wherefore then did he not foresee,
    Belike egal as it to him might be?!

    Aún así, es ella amada y hermosa ante sus ojos, ¿una vision divina?
    Una amante alimentada por la presta altanería de él-
    ¿Si él sí otorgó, por qué entonces no previó,
    Por muy probable que aquello le diera igual a él?

    O era él un ser (eried)
    O era él creyente - (alack nay mo);
    El que ella diga no que llegue al corazón de él,
    Su despecho ha sido la tumba de toda esperanza -
    Ella ha contradicho sus propias palabras,
    Él pensaba que la vida de ella, aparte de más aflicción,
    Ella lo veía grandioso, mas diminutivo;
    Él la dejó nunca sin el corazón.

    Bedroomeyes: that was an excellent translation of this archaic English. If I could give you 50 points, I would do that!

    I made comments, however, I'm no expert in this old English either and especially not to translate it to another language. Mares, you're the expert in Spanish, you can give it your own twist/interpretation as well!

    wrought: is a metal, however, in this context, wrought is the past tense of 'work'. I wasn't too familiar with the Spanish word 'forjado', but if it only means the metal 'hierro', then the sentence should be revised, if it also means worked, then it's fine as is.

    She hath no life but the one he for her wrought
    Ella no tuvo otra vida excepto a la que el construyó para ella (ellos).

    Reposted with a tell-tale lore of lies and scorn - your interpretation was correct, I'm just giving another version.
    Portadora de mentiras y desprecio.

    Sëer of the future, not of twain
    Vidente del futuro, no de nosotros (dos.)

    He left her ne'er without his heart.
    Él nunca la dejó sin su corazón

    Muchas gracias amiga

    Respecto a forjado, y siguiendo la antigüedad del lenguaje, en español antiguo tiene más sentido forjado que trabajado . A pesar de que "forjar" tenga que ver con los metales o ocn construcción, se lo usa a veces de la siguiente manera: "forjar su destino", queriendo decir, "construir su destino". De todos modos es el uso que he escuchado de la palabra, sé que no es su significado según la Real Academia Española.

    Así que supongo que forjar también sirve en este caso, como así podría haber servido "construir" (de la cual me acabo de dar cuenta al explicar forjar).

    Respecto de la otras partes no tengo idea...

    Honestamente, no sé cómo vino a parar este inglés antiguo en una canción de un grupo de Noruega y de estilogótico!!! De todos modos este tema es el que me gusta de ellos

    Gracias a las dos, sinceramente. Besos a ambas!

    Mares: supongo porque la canción Cassandra, al igual que el título del album "Aégis" come from Greek mythology, thus the use of early English. I noticed other songs in that album, ie: "Venus", so this group appears to have been writing songs for that album about Greek and Roman mythology. Btw: have you ever heard of the "Cassandra effect"? It's explained in link below. My question is why the song was not called 'Kassandra' as this is the Greek version of the Latin Cassandra. Anyway, very different & interesting band indeed, they sure make you think with their complex lyrics, but I prefer modern English!.

    One last comment: 'twain' does mean 'dos', but to make it clear that it referred to 2 people, that is why I revised it from 'dos' to 'nosotros'.

    Acerca de 'forjado', la verdad que no me había acordado de esta palabra y tuve que verla en el diccionario, pero tu explicación hizo bastante sentido, asi es que, aprendí algo nuevo con esta canción!

    Gracias por el email que me mandaste el otro día; te escribo a MSN un poquito más tarde.

    Besos.

    @edit: se me olvidó decir que pienso que 'construyó' suena mucho mejor que 'forjado', pues así el significado queda muy claro y la persona leyendo no tiene que sufrir.
