    Cool Crucifixion: A Vampire's Monologue

Hey everyone, here's my newest outing. I know the song title may sound like the song itself my be a little blasphemous, but I assure you that it's not (at least i don't think it is). I was watching "Interview With The Vampire" last week and thought that the idea of a vampire that feels regret with everything he does was an interesting concept, so I tried to figure out an approach to convert that mentality into a song. This is what came out. Enjoy!

So long it’s been since I’ve seen
    The glorious light of day.
My need to stay alive suppressed
By the hellish fall to grey.
    The newborn bloodlust
    Akin to no other
    Buries me in deep regret
From which there is no cover.

Adorn my head with a crown of thorns,
Watch me try to savor pain.
It’s been so long since I’ve felt anything,
Dead blood runs in my veins.
Scourge my back with a whip of fury,
    Help me fall and disappear.
I’ve walked this world too long to choose
    To stay alive right here.

I am the example of abomination.
What I am should not be so.
A life of sadness, years in darkness,
A world to see, nowhere to go.
    Plagued by a hunger
    Only satisfied by life,
One must die so I can live,
But not done by the knife.

Pound the nails into my wrists and feet,
Drain me of my sorrow now.
My pale face bleeds to something else,
Help me die, I don’t care how.
Thrust the spear into my side and see
    Me fade away from this.
The end that I so dearly longed for
    Drives me into empty bliss.

The catalyst for what I am
Forced me to never again belong.
Raise my cross before the masses.
Leave me there till break of dawn.
    There is nothing the damned
    Can say to the damned.
    Your soul must accept mortality.
    Do not become condemned.

Adorn my head with a crown of thorns,
Watch me try to savor pain.
It’s been so long since I’ve felt anything.
Dead blood runs in my veins.
Scourge my back with a whip of fury,
    Help me fall and disappear.
I’ve walked this world too long to choose
    To stay alive right here.
Pound the nails into my wrists and feet,
Drain me of my sorrow now.
My pale face bleeds to something else,
Help me die, I don’t care how.
Thrust the spear into my side and see
    Me fade away from this.
The end that I so dearly longed for
    Saves me at last.

I think it's cool, really. I like the idea with the crucifixion reference.
And if you didn't said it might sound a bit blasphemous yourself, I would have not gave the whole blasphemy thing a thought, I mean, it seriously didn't even crossed my mind!
Anyways, another thing that I really like about this song is the fact that it could as well be about hypocrites or any other kinda wicked people depending on how you look at it. I definitely think that's a good thing, that way you kinda let it be up to the listener. But then again, the whole vampire concept is not bad either, not at all. Well done!

thanks a lot eternalemo and PlainChaos! thanks for seeing the song for what it has the potential to mean rather than those obvious religious implications. it means a lot!
