I wonder if this might help!
The above song was on a cassette compilation. It was one of a few tapes done by an ex-workmate who had the gadgets to record direct from TV onto audio cassette. Some of the live songs on the tapes were Demin, Inspiral Carpets, Sonic Youth, John Cale which places the recordings from "Later with Jools Holland" series 1 which was shown in the U.K. late 1992. I've searched the programme listings for the show around that time but still cant track the song down. I've tried other U.K. music shows such as "The Late Show" & "The Word" but to no avail.
My ex-workmate wrote on the cassette that the group was Tabitha Zu. I've managed to find a few Tabitha Zu tracks, but it's not one of them, and i don't think it's them anyway, but i could be wrong!!
I've tried to find as many female singers from that era but have drawn a blank.
Has anybody got any suggestions who the singer sounds like?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

hmm, I could be wrong too, but after a lot of listening, I'd have to say it sounds like Melanie Garside [Tabitha Zu, Zu, Maple Bee etc] ....that's quite a distinctive voice she has there

I've found someone who appears to be a fan... there's a few demos [I can only listen to the one track unfortunately ]....maybe you could send a them a message....it's worth a shot

Thank you Mumbles. I think you are right, it does sound like Mel. Just got to find the right track. Have read elsewhere there is going to be an album released of Tabitha Zu stuff quite soon, so hopefully it might be on there.

i`ve heard your sample i don`t really know much about it. But it sounds like
Katie jane Garside, sister of mel garside.
If you look up on youtube you can listen to songs from her. voice sounds like her.
i`ve gone through but i didn`t get a match.
She has also a homepage and it seems she sings in many bands.
maybe you find out what song it is. but it sounds pretty much like her.
Would you please be so kind to let me know, if you find something?

I'm still trying to find out about this track, but i do think it is Melanie Garside from her Tabitha Zu days. There is still no news on the Tabitha Zu CD what was going to be released though, so i'm still waiting.
