70s "i want you, i need you, i love you..."- not Elvis

looking for this song i heard on the radio. sounds like a jazz/funk/rock song from the 70s with a black guy singing (at least he sounds black) and a part in the chorus statrs out like "i want you, i need you, i love you"....help me.
