Great to find this forum. I have this word:
    גּבּר גּבּור
    English written as "gibborim"

But I am not sure how to pronounce it even though the dictionary gave:
    gih-bohr-EEM

Can anyone help me give a more accurate phonics of the word?

    Thank you in advance!

גיבור - gibor - hero (male)
    גיבורה - gibora - hero(female)
גיבורים - giborim - heroes (they are..)

(The words - "gibor"\"gibora"\"giborim" - means -"hero", some one who is courageous, brave).

So do I pronounce as follows:

    GI as in guitar
    BOR as in boring
    IM as in imply

    Hi,

Just found this forum and is very good. I too have just started to learn Hebrew with the help of Pimsleur language CD's.

Behatzlakha to everyone else who is learning on here. I believe that means good luck if I have it right

Hello Dear Friends, I think that this is a good time for ATL to think about a single section for hebrew language translations. I'm also in love with this language for so long when time allows I'll be back on learning hebrew Lovely thread ...

When I first decided to learn Hebrew, I was afraid it would be very difficult because I would have to learn to read and write the new words, as well as to speak them. It has actually been easier learning this way for me -- when I am trying to remember the hebrew word for something, I can picture in my mind what the word looks like written in Hebrew and it helps me remember how to say it.

Is this true for anyone else?
