Though I have never heard of this music, the work that BlueJacket and Holyguyver have done on this has me intrigued and I am pursuing a purchase of this. Take your time guys (or gals) because your end result reflects that patience well. Thank you both.

Yes, I can help with dialogue (Fr to Eng) - I was going to post some once I've finished with lyric - some bits are lengthy, but I can add some to existing posts to give context.

I was thinking about having a go at subtitling, but Holyguyver's doing that already. It's a shame the existing DVD doesn't have subs - however, in my humble opinion, that can be a bit of a problem sometimes. I was never too impressed by the English subtitling on the DVD (or the English version CD come to that) for the Quebecois musical 'Notre Dame de Paris'. (Bruno Pelletier played Gregoire) - that's despite the 'translation' being written by the translator for Celine Dion....(humm).

Will post more soon - glad you like them -

Do get the DVD if you can - for me it shows just how good non English Musicals can be. Europe is stuffed full of excellent shows that are hardly seen by English speaking world. For me, Andrew Lloyd-Webber has so dominated the genre, everyone in the English speaking world is compared to him and at times unfairly criticised for not being 'as good' or being 'derivative' (you can't win!) Personally, I think that while he has produced some very good shows, sometimes his name carries him. Just the other day, I heard a song from his forthcoming sequel to 'Phantom' (opening later this year) - and the only thing I can say is that it was toe-curllingly dreadful. A saccharin piece entitled 'Love Never Dies.' (That's the rant out of the way..) !

Check out the video for another Dracula soundtrack on YouTube ' Within my World' by Orton, Evans and Lynn sung by Michael McCarthy. The soundtrack is out on CD. I particularly like 'Never to Die'. (see my entry http://www.allthelyrics.com/forum/ly...a-musical.html)
It is hoped to get a London production going this year... I wish them well as they are clearly a talented bunch, all David's struggling against the lumbering giant that is Lord Lloyd-Webber.....

Bluejacket, as I said in my post you can go ahead & make subtitles too, nothing wrong with having subtitles for two differant English translations I would be delighted to see a subtitle track by you . If you want I can upload my subtitle file & you can then take it & tweak it to having your lyrics & then you can easily post a video with yours in it .

    Default Army of Shadows

Hello Bluejacket , I would tell you that in the song "Army of Shadows is not well translated sentence is kisses And only me that is not well translated. I followed a French-speaking province of Quebec and the word "baise" mean in my language to make love without a feeling of love between two people but the two person sound sweet flag, so the word "****" would be more ideal for the song. Do not mix the word "baise" and "baisé ", the word "baisé " mean kisses in your language. The sentence would be true And **** only me.

Hello Bluejacket if you want to do another translation of the musical comedy Dracula here is a website you can find another hunt that its not on the cd: http://fr.lyrsense.com/dracula_entre_lamour_et_la_mort. I would like you to translate the following song and link::

    1: 14: La lettre
    ----------------------------------------------------------
    Grand Lui:
Bon voyage!

    ------------------------------------------------------------------
    1:14 - The Letter
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
    Narrator:
Those who do not know love, do not know suffering.
Ah Renfield! He is obsessed with Lucy; vulnerable and desperate, Dracula chooses him. Bon Voyage!

    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    1:15 Un Bateau qui Sombre
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    Renfield:

    1: 15. A Sinking Ship - Renfield
    --------------------------------------

Note:In this production, Renfield is a drug addict. This song conveys his despair and his fears for the predicament in which he finds himself. The sinking ship refers not only to the fateful expedition he is making with Johnathan, but his own voyage through life. He senses an evil he can't quite explain, and yet still has hope for redemption. Later, sensing his weakness, Dracula uses it against him, and Renfield's fears of a dark oblivion which haunt his dreams at the end of the song become reality.

It's a sinking ship - [ie This is a sinking ship - a doomed voyage]
    Into darkness it will sink.
    Into an ocean of shadows
    Where awaiting me are
    Thousands of the beggars,
    Madmen and whor*s, with
    knives between their teeth
And a syringes in their hands.
    This is the flip side
Of the dream - the true reality
    Beneath the barbed sun
    Over whom the Devil watches.

This life I have never asked for
Has turned me into a condemned man
    Marching towards the scaffold -
my head promised to the blade

This is the way of dread
    Where all the vices reign,
    And leads us straight
    Into the garden of suffering.
    It is absolute horror
    Which drives each to oblivion,
    Where the angels are bare
    And covered with blood

This life I have never asked for
Has turned me into a condemned man
    Marching towards the scaffold
My head promised to the blade.

    It's a sinking ship -
And into darkness it will sink,
    Into the ocean of shadows
Where God stretches out his arms to me.

Siibi, Here is a translation by me:

== Aussi loin que je sois ==

    Jonathan:

    Qu’importe qu’elles soient immences
    L’amour se fait confiance

    Mina:
Dis-moi ce que tu vis quand je ne suis plus là

    Jonathan:

    Qu’importe qu’elles soient immences
    L’amour se fait confiance.

== No Matter How Far ==

    Jonathan:
You who has returned, you who I must leave
Tell me are you coming back for the last time
Where are you going to be, when I return
To help us return to forever

    Mina:
Come back, I left, but wait for me
At the bottom of your bed, in warmth of your arms
You are my absolute, in whom I believe
    Tell me you love me
    No matter how far

    Jonathan, Mina:
Forget the distance, it has no importance
L’amour has a rendezvous in the valley of Fools
    Forget the sufferance
    No matter how immense
    L’amour is my confidence

    Mina:
Tell me what you saw well you were gone

    Jonathan:
In the warmth of your bed, in the depths of your arms

    Mina:
You are my absolute, in whom I believe
Tell me you love me no matter -

    Mina / Jonathan:
    How far / I do

    Jonathan, Mina:
Forget the distance, it has no importance
L’amour has a rendezvous in the valley of Fools
    Forget the sufferance
    No matter how immense
    L’amour is my confidence

And of course you all knew this was coming! Here is my video of Aussi Loin Que Je Suis with English subs:

English! Dracula - Entre L'Amour Et La Mort - No Matter How Far - Aussi Loin Que Je Suis
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziRHPnm0Czw

or for those wanting to see both songs together:

English! Dracula - Entre L'Amour Et La Mort - What I See and No Matter How Far - Ce Que Je Vois et Aussi Loin Que Je Suis
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvwBfCd8Ww4

This song was a lot harder to translate then the other video I made, so it might not be as accurate, but I hope I illustrated the correct meanings behind the lines. This song emotionally means a lot to me. As you guys know in February 2009 things didn't go well with me & my Quebecois friend in Montreal, & I have been unable to speak to her ever since, & am living all the way in Arizona USA so am very far away from her, so this song has a lot of meaning for me, I feel the lyrics very deeply in my heart, & I hope I was able to do it justice.

Nao, Since I can only somewhat read French my method is I put the French into google translate & yahoo babelfish translate, compare the two translations to the French & put in whichever translation seems to fit closer, I then re-look at the French & see if there is anything in the French that I see that the translators didn't pick up, I then listen to the music & tweak the sentences to fit the syllible count of the singers & try & get them to rhyme similarly & sound similar coming out of the mouths. Once I am done making all of those refinements I then post it here.

I have the entire show translated into English by google translate, I simply haven't had time to refine that many of the songs yet. If you would like a sloppy machine translation I can give you the entire show in English right now.

Since I don't exactly have the time right now, here is a quick way for you to get a basic translation for those songs

Default Act 2/5 dialogue Renfield Dracula & 2/6: Enfin plus rien / At Last Oblivion

    ----------------------------------------------------------
    2:5 Dialogue Dracula et Renfield
    -----------------------------------------------------------

Renfield: Où est Lucy? Où est ma Lucy?
    Dracula: Demande à Van Helsing!
Renfield: Mais le pacte?! Nous avions un pacte!
    Dracula: Je sais
    Renfield: Nous avions un pacte!
    Dracula: Je sais, Renfield!
Renfield: Mon amour à moi! Ma Lucy!!!
Dracula: Ta Lucy, tu la retrouveras!

    -----------------------------------------------------------
    2:5 Dialogue Dracula and Renfield
    -----------------------------------------------------------

Renfield: Where is Lucy? Where is my Lucy?
    Dracula: Ask Van Helsing!
Renfield: But the deal? We had a deal!
    Dracula: I know
    Renfield: We had a deal!
    Dracula: I know Renfield!
    Renfield: My love! My Lucy!
Dracula: Your Lucy, you will find her!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    2/6: Enfin Rien Plus
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: In this song, Renfield despairs that he has been instrumental in the destruction of Lucy, his secret love. But what begins as a song of despair becomes a song of redemption for both characters; Renfield repents his faults and calls on Lucy and Mina to forgive him and submits to death in the hope of release. Ironically, in Renfield Dracula sees himself reflected; for both, love is torture and existence a trial. Even as Renfield dies at his hand, Dracula yearns for his own release, his final whispered words a lament for them both. This is further explored in the next song 'Je Suis'.
I have added or changed the odd word for the sake of clarity, particularly verse 5 - in brackets is the literal trans or implied meaning.

    Renfield:

    Renfield:

    Narrator:
L'amour, la souffrance La mort – la délivrance

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2: 6: At Last, Oblivion or At Last, an end
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Renfield:
How can it be that I have fallen so far,
to become your slave [lit: your thing]
Sacrificing to your desires [lit: throwing at the foot of your bed]
Virgins with the faces of innocents? [use of rose is sentimental - sweet, innocent]
And why therefore, did I follow you
Far from my own dark road
How can it be that I am now
So weak with no will of my own?

    Dracula:
My friend, do not worry anymore
Neither for Lucy nor for Mina.
What does it matter to you whom I kill
What does it matter whose blood I drink
Let me offer you this final reward; (Dracula is offering him drugs)
In the black belly of this dark sun
It is time to call upon the saints
    in their false paradise.

    Renfield:
Enough, my strength is almost gone,
I want to become dust once more
[So] fragile and naked in my winter [am I]
That [the grace] of heaven withdraws from me.

    Dracula:
    Heaven mocks at you
You come from the Kingdom of Hell
You are the brother of Dracula
    You belong to Lucifer

    Renfield:
    I belong to no-one anymore,
I will dash my head against a wall,
As penance for the damage I have done
[Forgive me], and leave me to my wounds

    Dracula:
Too late, too late, it is much too late
    You are what you chose;
A mad frozen fool, with black nails [implies dead, also dead to the world]
I offer you this gift of life.

    Renfield:
At last I have the right to die,
    Without knowing why I lived.
    Why from my first sigh
Within me lived a dead man

Finally, I have the right to depart,
    To join my sister, Night
At last to end the suffering,
To rot at the bottom of pit

At last at last, this existence has an end [ie oblivion]
At last there will be no more mornings,
To gaze upon a pitiless sky. [for 'sky' also read 'heaven']
    Like an abandoned child.

At last, at last this existence has an end
At last there will be ......

    Dracula:
It's over. Go reunite with her
Love is suffering, death is freedom.

    Narrator:
    Love, Suffering, Death - Deliverance.........

    Dracula:
    Elhemina, enfin!

    Van Helsing:
    DRACUL!!!!

    Dracula:

    Credo in Deum
    Patrem omnipotentem,
    Creatorem caeli et terrae.
    Et in Iesum Christum,
    Filium eius unicum,
    Dominum nostrum,
Qui conceptus est de Spiritu Sancto

    Dracula:

Tu me fais rire avec ton Dieu
Qui ne vous a jamais aimé
    Ouvre les yeux, Van Helsing,
    Il vous a tous abandonné
Il m’a laissé tuer vos filles
Il m’a laissé violer ta fille

Et son fils culé sur la croix
    Il n’a rien dit
Et tu oses dire que c’est
En ce Dieu que tu crois

    Van Helsing:

    Avale ta langue de vipère
    Rends-lui sa place
Dans la gueule noir de Lucifer
    Vade retro Vlad Satanas
