late 80s Christian Song / Artist ID Please Help! "Rescue Me From The Daark" ??

For many years I've been searching for a Christian song from the mid-
to-late 1980s ('86-'88 is my best guess).
I think I probably heard it on 97.9 FM WCFL in Chicago (which became
WLUP-FM) It was a light rock / pop / synth, typical contemporary
Christian / CCM song of the era. It was mostly if not all MALE vocals
(male solo or male group).

I'm trying to remember the melody & chorus
la-la-la-la la la la
la la la la la laaaaaa
'RESCUE MEE FROM THEE DAAAAARK" (or Darkness).

Those are the only lyrics that I *think* I remember correctly. It's
so very little to go on, I know.

This song cannot possibly be from the 1990s or 2000s, because as I
mentioned, I heard it in the late 80s, maybe 1990 was the last time I
heard it, on other stations.

I've searched many of the popular artists of the time, Michael W.
Smith, Rick Cua, Idle Cure, White Heart, etc with no luck. It's
probably right under my nose, but some other artist/band.

Does this ring a bell for anyone? I so very much wanna find this CCM
song from my childhood.

I'd so much appreciate any help figuring out this song!
