My pain has been going on awhile, I am with you until the end of years
They told me to try to forget you, but I couldn’t forget
The daytime comes and meets my house
You are my dear, even in absence
You’ll see that only you belong here (literally “only your hands have passed this house”)
You are my dear, your eyes come to me
If only you were here, my dear
With the night, wine, and candles
I’m writing to you on paper so that I don’t have to say it, I can’t say it
I wish you weren’t gone
I wish you would stay forever

Thank you very much gbasfora.
Lyrics are great I have to say, just what I expected
Hello there!
By chance I was checking something related to Fairouz and I found your question and site. I am sorry to inform you but I do not think that gbasfora 's translation is accurate. I am unsure if gbasfora is a Lebanese dialect speaker. Because I think that gbasfora changed somehow the meaning. I have no doubt that when translating especially poetry, people should not fall in the trap of literality. But still I do feel that some meaning was wrong because the translator is not a native Lebanese speaker. I am sorry but I couldn't but make this remark because I love Fairouz and Joseph harb (god bless his soul, he died this year)
