... Iwould rather say: HE STAY´s WITH ME

But I am not sure what´s the "better english"

and it´s still a kind of "must have"-song on parties.

Thanks for letting me know. I didn't know it was a cover. I guess I should have searched the song title not just the artist. I was just happy to find another Biedermann song in German. I like both recordings. Thanks for the additional info and link.

I think either word works well but the addition of "with me" makes the point a little more forcefully.
