Happy New Year everyone Yeni yiliniz kutlu olsun
A Soldiers Love Poem:
The orders told me I'd be shipping out.
My first trip to the mountains,
This I had no doubt.
The way to tell my girl didn't come as easy as I thought.
I know she'll worry about me, and occasionally cry
Especially the dreaded day that I'll tell her goodbye.
Her eyes welled with tears as she told me she loved me didn't want me to go
She asked me for how long, and I told her "I don't know"
Hopefully It won't be for long and time may pass quick,
But these are promises we both know may not stick.
The following weeks were filled with hugs and kisses
Things that a soldier, soon to be far from home, always misses.
Jokes and laughter occupied most of our time together
As we both realized how much we truly loved one another.
The day came, It was time to leave
Saying goodbye has never been this hard for me
Hugging family and friends with half smiles and tears.
They cracked jokes and told me to have no fear,
For god was the one who would be with me there.
Standing at the end of the line and my last farewell
Was my girlfriend as her eyes began to swell.
I told her please don't cry
As I felt one of my own tears fall from my eye.
I tried to console her as best I could
Letting her know that no one will be able to help me through this deployment more than she would.
It didn't seem to help much as she began to weep.
She pulled me close and whispered "You better come back to me.
It took all I had to let her out of my arms
But I let her going knowing it may be the last time I feel her warmth.
I began to slowly turn away as I silently mouthed the words I love you
She showed the first smile all day as she said I love you too.
Just as we both had expected time passed slow
But our love for one another was stronger every day with letters from home.
We talked about anything to take our minds away from the war today
Even though I could tell through her voice she was worried I was so far away.
I would keep track of the days to remind myself how long I had
And before I knew it 2 weeks to go didn't seem that bad
The 2 weeks were up as I was headed home
Thanking god for allowing me to see my girlfriend again and not leaving her alone
The jet pulled up to the gate and we stepped out one after another
With a smile on my face I stepped off the jet and lay eyes on my mother and father.
Their smile was as big as mine
As my dad joked to me "Its About Time"
We hugged and a big kiss from my mom warmed my heart
But as happy as I was to see both of them
I couldn't help but to ask where was my girl
The love of my life
That I knew was the one.
She appeared out from behind my parents
A smile as big as the sun.
She said I loved you as she jumped into my arms
I said I love you too but I have something to tell you
before I embrace your warmth.
A confused look on her face she let go of her grasp
I said not to worry there's just a few things I have to say
And then a question to ask
Love defines you and I
We are the love stories they write books about.
You're my Cinderella
You're my one and only.
The future for as far as I can see is bright with the love we have for one another
You light my life with the beauty of your smile
My world would be upside down without the kisses you give me day after day.
And without you I am nothing.
This time her eyes welled for a different reason as I dropped to one knee
I pulled out a ring and recited the words "Baby will you marry me?"
She broke down as I slipped the ring on to her finger
She said "Yes I'll marry you, you're my one and only forever!"
