I wrestled a Panda Bear,
all cuddly and cute.
Its fur was black and its fur was white,
and some days, they switched,
with ferocious might.
I held a candle to its eyes to see through the dark,
It held a sun to mine to see through what was not.
We held each otherʼs light,
but dropped them along the way.
We just kept going with not a clue to the cues, with not a clue to the signs.
We just kept going,
until that day came, when we reached a fork.
I prescribed going right, that I would follow close behind.
I took back lost time and regretted the schmaltzy love rhymes.
Decided to hold them close, decided to hold them tight....
I took the other path, to a faraway place.
And I heard my Panda Bear roar....
I saw its paws, all tattered and torn....
I felt hollow, yet fallow.
Then I remembered your fond saying:
"Whatever"
So,
Whatever.
I smile and walk and sarcastically pray,
to yet another self-light today.
