Need the author/singer of the song.

He was despised and rejected by all,
A man of sorrow, a man of grief,
As one from whom people hide their faces,
    He was despised without esteem.

And he was wounded for our transgressions
And he was tortured for out iniquities,
And his chastisement has brought us healing,
And by his scourging we are made whole.

He had no beauty that we should desire him,
His form disfigured, a worm, no man.
His comeliness and his beauty had vanished,
For he was scorned, despised, oppressed.

Well this is very similar, but not the same. For example:

    AIR (Alto)
He was despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. He gave His back to the smiters, and His cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: He hid not His face from shame and spitting.

    CHORUS:
Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows! He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him. And with His stripes we are healed.

These are taken from Handel's Messiah

    Also this....

1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

From the book of Isaiah, King James Version, Isaiah 53, composed in 1982.

    There is also :

O The Blood Of Jesus... one version I know of is done by the 'New Jersey Mass Choir' - but once again, the words are similar, but not the same. Have a listen here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lG2V8...eature=related

    Chorus:
    O the blood of Jesus,
    O the blood of Jesus,
    O the blood of Jesus,
it will never loose its power.

    He was despised and rejected,
a man of sorrow acquainted with grief.
    Wounded for our transgression,
He was bruised for our iniquities.

(But still He rose up that third morning,
    He got up with all power in His hands);
Going back to His Father in glory
and He's soon to come again.

    Never gonna loose,
never ever gonna loose it's power,
    365 days of the year,
    every second, every hour.
    Never gonna loose,
never ever gonna loose it's power

It will never loose it's power

It is a Gospel song called "He Was Despised" however I cannot find a recording or name of an artist for it. As mentioned above, a similar song taken from Handel's Messiah has the same title. The following link is the only reference I can find to the song:

    Dapps,

Nice try but the Dan Snaddon 1974 recording of "Despised and Rejected" is actually a sermon and not a song.

    winstond83,

Why do you think the artist is Dan Snaddon?

The following site has a posting of your lyrics but nothing about an artist.

That's what I thought it might be, which is why I said he 'might not be singing it' lol

The only version, or similar, of this that I can find that is sung or set to music is the one written by Handel back in the 1700's. And it does have the same name.

It's all over Google, but obviously it is not the version you're after.

The only Snaddon work I can find is 'spoken'. I've actually downloaded 3 mp3's, but they're all sermons.

    Sorry

I guess I misunderstood..., I was referring to his passing in May 2009 (to that Heavenly choir).
