Hi!
I heard a song today in the radio and now I'm trying to find out who sings it.
here is everything i can tell you about the song:
Singer was male, his voice was calm, his vocal range medium to low, the whole song sounded a bit like spoken words (he did sing, but the melody was quite monotonous). Music had guitars, drums, no keyboard i think (but Im not 100% sure on that..).
Oh and, I heard that song on an Oldie station, so it is probably from the 80s or earlier (I think it's earlier, 70s maybe)
Unfortuneately I couldnt catch more lyrics than the few below:
the refrain goes like this:
"but i (ain't?) got no grids/grits/grods/grats...." -- he repeats that after every verse i think.. its the last line of every 4 or 8 lines.
and in one verse he mentions "Rockefeller" (the only really remarkable thing i can remember)
Well, thats all I know about it. Its a great song, so any help would be appreciated. I want to hear it again!
Thanks!
