Well.... It seems to be two different set of lyrics for this folk song.
The one you refer to, is talking about the love of a guy who considers
his girlfriend represents his disaster.
Χαλασιά means disaster.
He feels that her presence in his life makes him continuously
thinking about her.
As lyrics suggest the lyricist should own or work for the local mill,
that's why he should be considered a murderer in case of an
accident.

Didn't I told you, my Chalassia
not to go to mill
in case you'll be caught be the (mill's) wheel
and I would become murderer
My Chalassia
and I would become murderer
My Chalassia My Chalassia
you're the live suit of me
woe to me, my Chalassia
that you became my loving torture
I don't keep you to work
to get tormented
but to eat, drink
and get ornamented
my Chalassia
and get ornamented
A diamond ring
you're wearing on your hand
and it's written on stone
that I will be your mate
my Chalassia
I will be your mate
My Chalassia, my chalassia
you're the live suit of me
woe to me, my Chalassia
that you became my loving torture
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There's always the second version.
This one's talking about somebody's bitterness,
that his beloved became immigrant.

"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to?
You will never find that life for which you are looking.
When the gods created man they allotted to him death,
but life they retained in their own keeping"
