help w/trip to Croatia

I would be very thankful to anyone who can help me. My parents are from Istria and I grew up with a dialect that no one really speaks anymore! My fiance is from Dalmatia and sometimes I can hardly understand what his family is saying. I am going to visit his family for the first time in Croatia this summer and need some common sayings translated please.
