Tuomas Holopainen (from the band Nightwish) is the best in my opinion. His songs are poetry and I find myself through his lyrics. ^^
Eminem is not bad at all. Even if I don't really like rap, I like Eminem. (:
Hän katsoi maan reunalta tähteä putoavaa, Nyt kauniit kasvot neitosen peittää karu maa.
Jokaisen täytyy katsoa silmiin totuuden, Sillä aika ompi voittoisa, mut' tämä maa on ikuinen.

I think Sarah McLachlan is one of the greatest song writer i have ever known.
Folk musician Joanna Newsom has some truly beautiful and fascinating lyrics..
Slightly peculiar and always emotive. I don't listen to a lot of folk music, or singing even, but she really is one of the best lyricists all-round. Well worth a foray into the genre for almost anybody into deep lyricism.
oh ..and she plays harp ..and she makes epic progressive 10 minute long tracks.
Please do check out her track 'Emily'. (it's on youtube). It seems to be about the death of her mother, often written indirectly, through creative imagery. subtle but vivid.
or 'Monkey & Bear' for something easier to grasp, but no less deep.
her whole 'Ys' album is amazing though.

I think the deepest lyrics ever created came from Bob Dylan, and Jim Morrison.
when it comes to the best lyrics these two are Legendary!!!
