Cool Laserkraft 3D - Nein Mann

This song amuses me. It's about that one dude who can't stop dancing, even when the club is ready to shut down. The deadpan delivery of the chorus cracks me up.

I find the music video to this song mesmerizing. Go, lasers, go!

As usual, I've marked the iffy spots that were difficult to translate with an asterisk (*). If you have any suggestions or corrections, I'd love to hear them. There's a whole lotta slang in here.

    Ey, komm schon
    Hey, c'mon.
Es ist kaum mehr was los
    There's hardly anything goin' on.
    * Ich hab Kopfweh und der DJ spielt die ganze Zeit nur so Elektro-Zeugs
I have a headache, and the DJ's [been] playin' only electro-crap the whole time.
    * Nichtmal was von David Guetta macht er
He's not even playing anything from David Guetta.
Komm, lass uns nach Hause gehen
    Come [on], let's go home.

Nein man, ich will noch nicht gehen
No, man, I don't wanna go yet.
Ich will noch ein bisschen tanzen
I still wanna dance for a bit!
    Komm schon, alter
    C'mon, dude.
Ist doch noch nicht so spät
It's not even that late yet.
Lass uns noch ein bisschen tanzen
Let's dance for just a bit!
    [x2]

    Hey, na süßer?
    Hey there, sweetie.
    Wohl auch alleine hier?
    Are you all alone, too?
    Genau wie ich
    Just like me.
    * Bist mit gleich aufgefallen
I noticed you immediately. ["You immediately attracted my attention."]
    * Voll Laser wie du abgehst
You're freakin' awesome. [From what I can tell, "voll Laser" means "awesome"... and "abgehen" is either "to leave" or "to be awesome." So, literally, it might be, "You're awesome like you're awesome." Huh.]
Heute ist hier ja gleich Feierabend
It's nearly closing time [here for today].
Also ich bin noch garnicht müde
I'm not at all tired yet.
Aber vielleicht wenn du Bock hast
But maybe if you're up for it,
Ich hab eine Wohnung gleich hier in der Nähe
I have an apartment right here nearby.
Wenn du willst, wir könnten ja dort weiter tanzen
If you want, we could dance some more there, yeah?
Wenn du weißt was ich meine
If you know what I mean.
Oder willst du etwa alleine nach Hause gehen?
Or would you rather go home alone?

Nein man, ich will noch nicht gehen
No, man, I don't wanna go yet.
Ich will noch ein bisschen tanzen
I still wanna dance for a bit!
    Komm schon, alter
    C'mon, dude.
Ist doch noch nicht so spät
It's not even that late yet.
Lass uns noch ein bisschen tanzen
Let's dance for just a bit!
    [x2]

    Pass mal auf, Junge
    Watch out, kid.
    Hier ist langsam Feierabend
The club's shutting down. ["It's slowly closing time here."]
Also geh runter von der Tanze
So stop your dancing. ["So step away from the dance!"]
    Ich will nach Hause
    I wanna go home.
    Der Barkeeper will nach Hause
The bartender wants to go home.
Und der DJ ist müde, hörst du doch
And the DJ's tired, you hear?
    * Mach ein bisschen halblang jetzt
    Come on now.
Hol dir deine Jacke, schnapp dir deine Mädels
Fetch your jacket, grab your girls,
    Und geh nach draußen
and get out of here. ["and go outside."]
Also wir sehen uns nächste Woche wieder
We'll see each other again next week.

Nein man, ich will noch nicht gehen
No, man, I don't wanna go yet.
Ich will noch ein bisschen tanzen
I still wanna dance for a bit!
    Komm schon, alter
    C'mon, dude.

    [x2]

Hey, junge mir platzt gleich das Hemd
Hey, kid, I'm about to blow my top.
    Wir schließen, Abflug jetzt
    We're closing; outta here, now!
Ey DJ, DJ, mach die Musik aus
Hey, DJ, DJ, turn off the music.

Nein man, ich will noch nicht gehen
No, man, I don't wanna go yet.
Ich will noch ein bisschen tanzen
I still wanna dance for a bit!
    Komm schon, alter
    C'mon, dude.
Ist doch noch nicht so spät

Can't really say you anything about "voll laser" - it's not a common expression and I never heard it bevor. But I guess you're right with "awesome" here.

"abgehen" - In standard language it has only very special uses. So you can't use it for leave in most cases. The only case where it means leave is in the expression "von der Schule abgehen" - to leave school. The second use is at theater and drama, abgehen is the correct translation of "exit" (stage) here.

In youth language it's common. For translation purposes you have to distinguish between "etw. geht ab" and "jmd. geht ab". "Das geht ab" often simply means "this is awesome". "etw. geht ab" means something is freaky/awesome/cool or rocks.

Still "jmd. geht ab" usually doesn't mean somebody is awesome. In this case it means that somebody is letting himself go or is freaking out (in some cases "rocks" suits again). Like freak out in english it can be positive or negative. So "der geht voll ab" can describe - like here - someone who is dancing wildly, lets himself go, is completely into the music... but it also can describe someone who is mad and yelling at everyone.

There's also the expression "Da geht es ab", which basically means there's very much going on. It can be used, when there's an event, you have to visit, as there are a lot of things you can miss. But also when there's brawl.

All the uses have in common that there's a lot happening. When used with somebody (jmd. geht ab) he or she does a lot/more than usual (whether he screams a lot while being angry or moves wildly while dancing).

I read on the internet, that in American youth language there's also the term "to go off" (which would be a literal translation) meaning quite the same as the German equivalent. But as I actually never heard anybody say that, I can't confirm this is common or even exists.

When you want to use it in German, note that "abgehen" is considered youth language and not standard language. So you shouldn't use it in a normal conversation. But this might change in the future. It already happened with another use of "abgehen". There's also "etw. geht jmd. ab" (das geht mir ab), meaning that you miss something or lost something. Less common: "Die Liste geht mir ab." (I lost the list) - more common: "Früher sind wir oft zum See gegangen und haben in der Sonne gelegen. Das geht mir irgendwie schon ab." (We used to go to the lake, lying in the sun. I'm somehow missing that.") - This expression was also youth language only. It is still considered informal, but noone will be irritated when an adult uses it.

Also geh runter von der Tanze
So stop your dancing. ["So step away from the dance!"][/B]
"Tanze" here is an abbreviation for "Tanzfläche" (dancefloor), like "Disse" for "Diskothek". Still I don't think it's nearly as common as "Disse" (common youth language) and seems to be a rather local expression.

Wow! Thanks for your thorough explanation! I understand things much more clearly now. I appreciate the time you took spelling it out for me.

Slang is so much fun, but it can make things really confusing if you aren't hip to the lingo.
