Default Wallen - Ma Terre Sainte

    Anyone ? =))

    Aime-moi, aime-moi

    Wallen - My Holy Land

Love me like Sephora loved Moses
    Like Qays loved Layla
    Like Jacob loved Joseph
If I'm a desert, be the rain
If I'm a gesture, be the hand
    Love me, love me

Forgive me for not holding back my tears
When I see you, everything tells me you're the one
The least gesture of yours, I grow fond of it
My everyday life tells me about you

Love me like Sephora loved Moses
    Like Qays loved Layla
    Like Jacob loved Joseph
If I'm a desert, be the rain
If I'm a gesture, be the hand
    Love me, love me

Expect from me, what I expect from you
    Not more, nor less
Not more, nor less, Love is a Holy Land
All of it yearns for unity
By your side my love, I found out who I am

Love me like Sephora loved Moses
    Like Qays loved Layla
    Like Jacob loved Joseph
If I'm a desert, be the rain
If I'm a gesture, be the hand
    Love me, love me

I have enough love for a thousand lives, a thousand lives, a thousand lives
Open your heart to me for life, for life...
I have enough love for a thousand lives, a thousand lives, a thousand lives
Open your heart to me for life, for life, for life...

Love me like Sephora loved Moses
    Like Qays loved Layla
    Like Jacob loved Joseph
If I'm a desert, be the rain
If I'm a gesture, be the hand
    Love me, love me

Beautiful song. I love Wallen! The lyrics touch me even when I don't really understand them, that just adds to the beauty in a way... I'm not sure, who are the people mentioned in the chorus? And what does she mean by 'Like Jacob loved Joseph'? isn't it a song about love relationships?... Also, why is love a 'Holy Land', exactly? Thankyou for translating it

I love this song too... Takes me back in 2006!

Sephora was Moses' (Moussa, in Arabic) wife in the Torah, Bible and Quran. It was love at first sight for her, because she felt that Moses was a great man the moment she saw him.
Qays (Majnun) and Layla are lovers from Arabic tales. Although she wasn't any special, Qays was mad in love with Layla, because "Only Qays' eyes can see Layla's beauty.", he'd say.
Joseph (Yusuf) was Jacob's (Yaqub) favorite son in the Torah, Bible and Quran, because the father felt that the son was loved and blessed by God from the start.

These three stories are tinged with an inexplicable attraction. Beyond the simple appareances, the first one manages to reach, and appreciate the other's soul from the very beginning: it is true, powerful "love at first sight". She uses Jacob's fatherly love to express that it's not only about a man and a woman: it deals with all the kinds of love. But I don't think she alludes to something else, as you seem to think. It's true it can mark you when you first listen to it. It took me a few seconds too before understanding what she meant by "Comme Jacob aimait Joseph" ("Like Jacob loved Joseph"). Once you know exactly who they are, it all turns out to be coherent.

Compared with the title, I guess she also uses all these references to show that love is universal, and to emphasise the similarities between the Jewish and Muslim religions and cultures. She's talking about the "Holy Land", which is Palestine, where - according to her - these two people should be united no matter the differences, since they have the same origins. Like they're meant to end together in a fair sharing out, because each one reminds of the other, like in love: that's why, "Love is a Holy Land". It's a song both about love and the actual situation in the Middle East.

    That's how I understand it anyway. (:
