Require help to id 2 80s songs.

I require help to id these songs which were from the new wave era in the 1980's. We want to make a cd including these 2 songs but no one I know can remember the names but a few do remember the songs like I do.

For this first one I recall the chorus only, as such

WHEN THE NIGHT FADES AWAY FROM THE SKY
WHEN THE DAY BRIGHTLY SHINES
IT WAKES YOUR MIND ???
WHEN THE NIGHT FADES FROM THE SKY

For this second one I recall several lines and the chorus

you're chasing shadows in your sleep

chasing rainbows??

I'LL PROVE I'M RIGHT

WORKED SO HARD TO GET THIS FAR

In the background another singer (female I think) repeats something like honest.

In regards to the first song, a friend believes the song was called OBLIVION or that it was part of the title (or even group name?) but I am lost as how to determine this. Search results are overwhelming.

Do you know the year or time span?

Is this a dance song or rock?

It's new wavish. Best I can do with time span is middle 80s but I'm feeling it's older than Promises , seems more distant in my mind, but I can still hear clear "WHEN THE NIGHT ... FADES AWAY FROM THE SKY.... WHEN THE DAY....
