Le mie parole sono sassi,/ my words are stones
precisi e aguzzi pronti da scagliare su facce vulnerabili e indifese;/ unerring and sharp, apt to be thrown at vulnerable and helpless faces
Sono nuvole sospese, gonfie di sottintesi/ they're hovering clouds, swollen with innuendos
che accendono negli occhi infinite attese;/ that light in the eyes endlessly waitings
Sono gocce preziose, indimenticate,/ they're precious, unforgotten drops
a lungo spasimate, poi centellinate;/ pined for a long time and then slowly sipped
Sono frecce infuocate che il vento e la fortuna sanno inidrizzare;/ they're flaming arrows that the wind and the luck know how and where to direct
Sono lampi dentro a un pozzo cupo e abbandonato,/ they're flashes inside a dark and desolated well
un viso sordo e muto che l'amore ha illuminato;/ a deaf and dumb face that love has illuminated
sono foglie cadute, promesse dovute/ they're fallen leaves, promises owed
che il tempo ti perdoni per averle pronunciate;/ may time forgive you for have made them
Sono note stonate,/ they're wrong notes
su un foglio capitate per sbaglio, tracciate e poi dimenticate,/ happened on a sheet by mistake, written and then forgotten
le parole che ho detto, oppure ho creduto di dire, lo ammetto./ the words I said, or I've thought i've said, i admit it
Strette tra i denti, passate e ricorrenti,/ held between the teeth, bygone and recurring
inaspettate, sentite o sognate./ unexpected, sincere or dreamt
Le mie parole son capriole, palle di neve al sole,/ my words are capers, snow balls under the sun
razzi incandescenti prima di scoppiare;/ incandescent rockets before they explode
Sono giocattoli e zanzare, sabbia da ammucchiare,/ they're toys and mosquitos, sand to pile
piccoli divieti a cui disobbedire;/ little prohibitions to which disobey
Sono andate a dormire/ they went to sleep
sorprese da un dolore profondo che non mi riesce di spiegare,/ bewildered by a deep sorrow i can't explain
fanno come gli pare, si perdono al buio per poi ritornare;/ they do what they want, they lose themselves in the dark to then come back
Sono notti inteminate, scoppi di risate,/ they're unfinished nights, bursts of laughters
facce sovraesposte per il troppo sole;/ faces burned by too much sun
Sono questo le parole, dolci o rancorose,/ these are the words sweet and spiteful
piene di rispetto oppure indecorose;/ full of respect or unseemly
Sono mio padre e mia madre,/ they're my father and my mother
un bacio a testa prima del sonno, un altro prima di partire;/ a kiss per head before sleeping, another one before leaving
Le parole che ho detto e chissą quante ancora devono venire/ the words i've said and who knows how many are yet to be said
Strette tra i denti, risparmiano i presenti,/ held between the teeth, they spare the presents
immaginate, sentite o sognate,/ imagined, sincere or dreamt
spade fendenti,/ sharp swords,
al buio sospirate,/ eagerly awaited in the dark
perdonate, da un palmo soffiate./ forgiven, blown away from a palm

"-Please tell me you're going to appeal to my humanity..."
"-Actually, I'm planning to threaten you."
"Well, if you'll excuse me, I have work to do. Evil plots don't just make themselves, you know!"
