الفقر غربة في الوطن

وبيوتنا ليه مرهونة .. مرهونة على زلزال
طب مين اللي قال مالها
ومين اللي كنز مالها
ومين واقف وياها ... وياها وقت المحن

الفقر غربة في الوطن
Poverty is live foreignness in your own country
مالوش لا ظهر ولا ثمن
It has no support, it has no cost
يهلك ويشقى سنين
It perishes, and puts people in misery for yearsويادوب يجيب ويا دوب يجيب حق الكفن
And it barely covers the cost of the coffin

Why is the country bent, bent carrying all the torment
وبيوتنا ليه مرهونة .. مرهونة على زلزال
And why are our house mortgaged? Mortgaged upon earthquakes
طب مين اللي قال مالها
Who has asked “whats wrong with it?”
ومين اللي كنز مالها
Who has stashed up its money
ومين واقف وياها ... وياها وقت المحن
And who is standing with her? With her in times of distress
