Default Help me find a song to include in my film!!

I'm looking for a song that reflects a sad nostalgia... it will be run during a sequence where someone is thinking back on memories he shared with his now-dead lover.

It should reflect nostalgia and sadness through the tone and mood, not necessarily lyrics.

Everyone who can think of a song, just throw it at me! I will check them all out and find the best suited one!

Thank you for helping me in this process!!

anything by Sarah McLachlan....maybe 'Fear', or 'I Wish' by Alex Lloyd... he'll have some suitable songs i think.
'They Weren't There' by Missy Higgins.
maybe Coldplay... ooh 'Tears and Rain' by James Blunt.
guess it depends on what kind of film your making though... is it modern?
dunno if this helps......im just throwin em at ya
GOOD LUCK

There's also a beautiful song by Josh Groban: To Where You Are. You might wish to check it out.

"Borrowed Angels" ...I can't remember who sings it, but I know Kathy Brier sang it on One Life to Live at Jen's funeral.

"Yellow Ledbetter" by Pearl Jam has a kinda sad reflective tone to it; also "Muzzle" by Smashing Pumpkins, mournful yet celebratory, with really great lyrics. "Painted on my Heart" by The Cult, "The Wind Cries Mary" by Jimi Hendrix, "French Fries with Pepper" by Morphine has a real bluesy feel to it, "Porcelain" by Moby, going back to Smashing Pumpkins "Thirty-Three" is a great song too. I can think of tons more, but I guess it really depends on what kind of movie it is. Want more ideas?

Default Help me find a song to include in my film

THERE YOU'LL BE
Faith Hill

When I think back
On these times
And the dreams
We left behind
I'll be glad 'cause
I was blessed to get
To have you in my life
When I look back
On these days
I'll look and see your face
You were right there for me

[CHORUS:]
In my dreams
I'll always see your soul
Above the sky
In my heart
There always be a place
For you for all my life
I'll keep a part
Of you with me
And everywhere I am
There you'll be

Well you showed me
How it feels
To feel the sky
Within my reach
And I always
Will remember all
The strength you
Gave to me
Your love made me
Make it through
Oh, I owe so much to you
You were right there for me

[Repeat chorus]

'Cause I always saw in you
My light, my strength
And I want to thank you
Now for all the ways
You were right there for me
You were right there for me
For always

[Repeat chorus]

Mellon collie and the infinite sadness by Smashing Pumpkins: no lyrics, only piano: it's great.
For Martha - Smashing Pumpkins : great lyrics and music
I can fly - Gabrielle
Nuotando nell'aria - Marlene Kuntz (very sad, the lyrics are great, it talks about a lover now dead, but...it's in Italian!)
Why does my heart feel so bad?- Moby
The virgin suicide soundtrack - Air (electronic, really good)
Forever yours - Nightwish

let me know if you like something, otherwise I'll look for something else.
Ciao

I'm not sure if this is exactly the song you are looking for that would work in your movie. But this song- I can't listen to it all the way through with out my eyes swelling up. Lyrics listed below.

Kenny Chesney- Who You'd Be Today

Sunny days seem to hurt the most
Wear the pain like a heavy coat
I feel you everywhere I go
See your smile, I see your face
I hear you laughing in the rain
Still can't believe your gone

(Chorus
It ain't fair you died to young
Like a story that had just begun
But death tore the pages all away
God knows how I miss you
All the hell that I've been through
Just knowing, no one could take your place
Sometimes I wonder, who you'd be today

Would you see the world
Would you chase your dreams
Settle down with a family
I wonder what would you name your babies
Someday's the sky's so blue
I feel like I can talk to you
And I know it might sound crazy

(Chorus)

Today [3x]
Today [3x]

Sunny days seem to hurt the most
I wear the pain like a heavy coat
The only thing that gives me hope
Is I know, I'll see you again someday

Someday, someday

How about Sarah McClachlan's "Angel"? Does anyone remember that this was the song that kept getting airplay after 9/11 on the tv when they'd show those still looking for survivors?? I honestly find it hard to find anything more nostalgic than this...that's just me, though.

Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues has a song called "Forever Autumn" on the album "War Of The Worlds" (Jeff Wayne's Musical Version) that is a perfect match for the scene in your film. The song was also included on the Moody Blues compilation CD, "The Best of the Moody Blues" (1996).

The summer sun is fading as the year grows old
And darker days are drawing near
The winter winds will be much colder
Now you're not here

I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky
And one by one they disappear
I wish that I was flying with them
Now you're not here

Like the sun through the trees you came to love me
Like a leaf on a breeze you blew away

Through autumn's golden gown we used to kick our way
You always loved this time of year
Those fallen leaves lie undisturbed now
'Cause you're not here
'Cause you're not here
'Cause you're not here

Like the sun through the trees you came to love me
Like a leaf on a breeze you blew away

A gentle rain falls softly on my weary eyes
As if to hide a lonely tear
My life will be forever autumn
'Cause you're not here
'Cause you're not here
'Cause you're not here

I'm a songwriter - I have a song called "Walk In The World For Me" The melody and words convey, perhaps, what you're looking for. Google Bob Larro and go to my home page - click on original songs - listen and read song excerpts...
Good Luck
