Default Good song for a funeral

Hi,
I think the song : You'll Never Walk Alone , from Gerry and the Pacemakers is good song for a funeral. Or the LiverpoolFC version from the fans.

What do you think ?

I think it's ideal, but prefer the Gerry & The Pacemakers version

uhm i think it's a little too late but the songs of yann tiersen: la dispute, or comptine d'un autre ete are good songs from the movie "Amelie poulin" are really really good songs for a funeral. the music is piano only and very easy to play on the piano

Hi,

I like the song ´goodbye my lover´ by James Blunt. Allthough listening to all his songs all the time would drive me crazy, I think this song is sung with all his heart in it.

Also the (Christian-like) song by Cherri Potter "I promise you" is nice.

Peter Gabriel - I Grieve

It ends on a more upbeat note ("life carries on") which is how I would prefer my own funeral to end, with a note of hope...

It was only one hour ago
It was all so different then
Theres nothing yet has really sunk in
Looks like it always did
This flesh and bone
Its just the way that you would tied in
Now theres no-one home

I grieve for you
You leave me
so hard to move on
Still loving whats gone
They say life carries on
Carries on and on and on and on

The news that truly shocks is the empty empty page
While the final rattle rocks its empty empty cage
And I cant handle this

I grieve for you
You leave me
Let it out and move on
Missing whats gone
They say life carries on
They say life carries on and on and on

Life carries on
In the people I meet
In everyone thats out on the street
In all the dogs and cats
In the flies and rats
In the rot and the rust
In the ashes and the dust
Life carries on and on and on and on
Life carries on and on and on

Its just the car that we ride in
A home we reside in
The face that we hide in
The way we are tied in
And life carries on and on and on and on
Life carries on and on and on

Did I dream this belief?
Or did I believe this dream?
Now I can find relief
I grieve

I would use the song, "Into The West"-Annie Lennox...it's the theme song for the third Lord of The Ring and it's such a great song! try it..

This is quite good, but very sad:

City of Angels Soundtrack Lyrics

Sarah McLachlan - Angel Lyrics

Spend all your time waiting for that second chance
For the break that will make it OK
There's always some reason to feel not good enough
And it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction or a beautiful release
Memories seep from my veins
Let me be empty and weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight

In the arms of the Angel far away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of the Angel; may you find some comfort here

So tired of the straight line, and everywhere you turn
There's vultures and thieves at your back
The storm keeps on twisting, you keep on building the lies
That you make up for all that you lack
It don't make no difference, escaping one last time
It's easier to believe
In this sweet madness, oh this glorious sadness
That brings me to my knees

In the arms of the Angel far away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
In the arms of the Angel; may you find some comfort here

You're in the arms of the Angel; may you find some comfort here

Yeah, I'm a big Evanescence fan myself, one of the more original bands these days, in my opinion.

Oh, so agree with Vaio above. My daughter sung that at a memorial for her college friend who passed over.
Very moving.

Really, it depends whose dead corpse is about to decay! Time of your life - Green Day is a REALLY awesome song... I'm having it played at my funeral!
