Nice translation guys!
I know this thread was started a long time ago, but I just happened to find it, since I myself am trying to translate some Aterciopelados songs (not an easy task, mind you, but well worth it).
By the way, "alúsate" is from the verb "aluzar", which is synomymous with "alumbrar" (illuminate).
I put my suggestions in bold (these are just suggestions--not corrections)
Any comments welcome!
You don’t have to be the diva of the moment
Why
work for a sculptured body
Maybe you want to feel all eyes upon you
And
unleash whistles as you pass...
Look at the essence within, not what appears on the outside(x2)
The body is just a box and the eyes are windows,
of our prisoned soul (hey)
Look at the essence within, not what appears on the outside(x1)
Everything enters through the eyes is what the superficial say,
but it’s
what's inside that matters
I feel in the air, a
spiritual aroma
winged messengers trying to land,
if you open the box you should find
It's a jewel that will dazzle you (oh but)
Look at the essence within, not what appears on the outside (x2)
90-60-90, they add up to 240,
Numbers not to be considered (hey)
Look at the essence within, not what appears on the outside (x1)
Don't let them measure you, don't let them confuse you
Illuminate yourself, make yourself matter
(This is how I would have translated the last line, but I like "Assert yourself" too, and it's basically the same idea.
