I am thinking about starting to learn Spanish, and I'm trying decide whether to do Latin American Spanish or Spanish of Spain. I'm trying to get a feel for what the difference sounds like; I'm guessing the major difference is pronunciation. I'm wondering what dialect Groban is using in this song.

From what I've heard of both, I'm drawn to Latin American Spanish because it sounds better to me. I also heard that it is closer to the Spanish spoken in Spain in the 16th and 17th century which is cool as well.

How do people react to those who speak different dialects. If I learned Latin American Spanish and showed up to Madrid, would I be looked down upon?

Mmmm I don't know I'm from Mexico hahah but if someone comes here speaking spanish from Spain... as far as we can understand it's great! haha I think they'll do the same! It's like american and british english I guess

I came across this post on google, and I also love this song. So much so that I signed up just to reply. I spent awhile trying to translate this song as poetically as it was originally written, which is impossible. However I attempted, and here is my translation.

Tell me what would I do of my days,
of whom would I dream if you're not here.
