"a cuestas" means that you carry something, most likely implying that sth is a burden

"un secreto a cuestas que me convierte"
I carry a secret that turns me

Muchas gracias Bagurl, I was really confused with the above sentences, but now they make perfect sense!.

About your input: 'venir' does mean literally 'to come', however, in this particular context, 'return' sounded better in English.

'Because I come/coming' simply does not give the correct translation as he is referring about the 'return to life' not the coming to life'. In Spanish it sounds ok., but not in English.

Anyway, this is just the way it works in translating languages, one should not attempt to translate the exact word all the time because when this is done, translation/interpretation gets lost, thus the reason it is so very difficult to translate certain poems.

I would have just put "I come" because he says he's coming from "mas alla de los tiempos". That's at least my interpretation since he never mentioned he is returning from anywhere... it's just a matter of how each one of us reads what it says...

It's interesting to read the many interpretations, isn't it?. What I do before I even begin translating is read the entire poem/song & that gives me a good understanding of the story behind it.

I interpreted the poem in 2 ways, one of which was that the person was not alive/present in either the literal or figurative sense, thus the title "Immortal Love". Text in the poem that indicates he's not alive/present:

He mentions some power took his life, that his soul lives on, that he sees centuries pass by, etc., and just prior to him saying "yo vengo", he says they will love each other again, ie: he's not present, but he knows he'll return so that they can be together again, thus the reason I used "return" and not "come" because he is returning from as you said 'el mas alla'. Let's also not forget that the definition of 'return' is 'to go or come back.' My other interpretation was a bit weird so I won't get into that one.

I see all the time people trying too hard to find the exact word to translate, but that is not necessary nor correct all the time.

Anyway, Kitty knows Spanish so I'm pretty sure she understood the general meaning of the song, it is a lot harder when the reader doesn't know the language at all!

well, like both of us said, poems/songs may have multiple interpretations, depending not only on the context you're giving it, or how much you know about the artist, but also based on personal experiences... so, in their own way, everyone is as correct as the others, and at the same time, they're not!
it's always great to hear what others interpret, because it kinda opens up your mind to other points of view and gives you a whole different perspective over the same thing
