Someone kills them for greed or for revenge (in this case, it was both). That someone tends to keep the money. Relatives are mourning and sad. Life goes on without them.

Here it is verse by verse. It's a pretty good song. This is known as a NARCO-CORRIDO. Usually, corridos are written after someone dies and they tell the story of that person. Corridos tend to make martyrs of people that we would normally consider criminals. In Mexico and in many poor countries, these give people HOPE.
