Hi! I would really really appreciate if someone could translate some parts of Keri Hilsons song Knock You Down into spanish? I know hiphop slang and rhymes are hard to translate, so I just posted the parts I'd like translated! THANK YOU SO MUCH in advance!

Lisa and other natives in English, I just did what makes sense in mind, but I wonder if is this really correct to see "Just get back up" as Just get ready. But I know another meaning for get back up=get angry, but it doesnt match that way for me. Thank you.

Your questions always make me think too much Algebra, so next time I will just ignore you. (j/k) Actually, to answer your question accurately, it was necessary to examine the last 2 paragraphs (even the entire poem) and not just the paragraph in question.

1. Translation of last paragraph in isolation, ie: not taking the rest of the lyrics into consideration:

Sometimes love comes around
A veces el amor te visita/llega
And it knocks you down
Y te hace sufrir/te daña
Just get back up
Simplemente empieza de nuevo
When it knocks you down
Cuando te hace sufrir/te daña

"it knocks you down" in most scenarios has a negative meaning, thus the above interpretation.

"Just get back up" - to get your spirits up again/get back on your feet/to start again/get up when you fall down, etc., it does NOT mean to get ready or to get angry as it's a definite positive phrase.

HOWEVER,

In the 2nd last paragraph, the meaning of 'knock' is without a doubt, clearly positive as we have the text that tells us so, it refers to amazement, as in being crazy in love, I say this because she says: "every morning I look at you and smile", so there is no unhappiness or sorrow whatsoever, therefore, I would have translated as follows:

'Cause boy you came around and you knocked me down
Porque, chico, tu llegaste y me hiciste perder la cabeza

"acontecer" is impersonal, but with some mad poetry it sounds good "simplesmente acontecemos" )

Gracias Istanbulgal, I felt comfortable to translate this text, and I see I'm not that far, anyway I used "noquear"="knock out" because I was thinking of "knock down" as "derribar"='make fall down', and it sounded so tough to say "me deribaste".

Well, "noquear=knock out", I know, but it sounded perfect in this case. But so, this an idiom "make lose the head", so , "perder la cabeza" es bien mejor. As for "get back down", for your phrases I see this is a bit complex to translate. Thank you, we really need to discuss these lyrics.
