    Default Time for some classic

    Since amaryn mentioned Mary Linda.

Mary Linda had been one of Theodorakis singers
so here she firstly sings Theodorakis' "Apagogi"

by the way, Amethystos, efgaristo para poli for Mairi Linda

Now this is totally different again: Cretan music, marvellously played by this group of musicians, really knowing to handle their instruments, Mixalis
    Tsouganakis taking the lead:

Title: M' anastises kardia mou, (alternative title: Glika ponouse to macheri)
    Lyrics: Lefteri Papadopoulos
    Music: Mimi Plessas

This is mine translation for stixoi.info back in 2008

The knife was hearting (me) sweetly,
honey was dripping from the scar.
And i was dying on the sandy beach
    last summer.

And i was dying in your arms
and you were crying with sobs....
And they were lying on me loosely
    your "vivid" hair.

And your were looking for resurrecting me
    with the immortal water....
And my mouth was (so) dried
like the one of a tap that has run out of water.

And you laid on my heart
    like a flowering jasmine plant...
    And your warm breath
    resurrected me, my heart.

I'm ready to buy it if it's from a legal way
    Can someone help me ?

    Thanks

I find this singer very convincing; a modern Greek song: "tonight I want you to love me", if I get that right... couldn't find the translation.
    Does anyone know this song?

Here Mixalis Tsouganakis really puts all he has in a famous Greek song, whilst playing the Cretan lute:

I told you this and I am telling you again:
don't go down to the seashore
    as the seashores make storms
and it takes when you pass by

and if it takes me down to the deep water
I' ll turn my body into a ship
and of my little hands I make oars
and then I will take off from the land

I told you this and I am telling you again
    don't write me letters
    because I can't read them
and they cause me to cry

Catherini! Efgaristo for this song by the outright very succesful Greek laika singer Panagiotis Sfakianakis, born 1959 with more records sold in Greece than
any other artist (according to Wikipedia). If you want to know more about him, folks, go to this link:

Default Dimitris Kokotas - Poli kali yia na se alithini

Title: Poli kali yia na se alithini
    Music & Lyrics Fivos
    Singing by Dimitri Kokotas
    CD: Sinidisi (Eros Music 1995)
    Track no: 03

    Mine translation for stixoi.info

    If somebody was telling me
a wish of mine, that he could
satisfy (or become real) in a magic way
then I would ask him, I would pray him.....

That I would never had to know you
what a mistake of mine, to thought that you were everything for me.
That I would never had to know you
I wish i could make clear that you were too good to be true.

I know that the blame is only mine
that I got rid of everything (I had), just to got only you
    the mistake was mine
    the mistake was mine...

Written and first performed by Pantelis Thalassinos, but I also like this version by Giannis Kotsiras

    translation from stixoi.info

    Damn you

    Hour by hour, by God,
    I need you so
that from my eyes there run
    seas and oceans.

    Send one letter, one syllable,
if you still have a God,
to me who am hanging from your lips
and who am at your mercy.

Damn you, you have no pity for me,
who am burning up and melting,
you caused me to love you
and now I am withering away.

    My thoughts are locked away
in the dungeons of my mind
Oh so many things I want to say to you,
    and no words exist.

Damn you, you have no pity for me,
who am burning up and melting,
you caused me to love you
and now I am withering away.

Lightbulb Well Catherini, I followed your first post.....

Title: Palikari sta sfakia (mostly known as "Evale o theos simadi")
    Lyrics / Poetry: Niko Gatsos
    Music: Stavros Xarchakos
    Sung by Niko Xilouris
    LP: Sillogi (EMI 1974)
    Track no: 05 (side b)

Translated by Zvezda after Catherini's first post in the forum....

Btw I made some small changes....

    God had his eye
    on a lad in Sfakia
and his dad in the netherworld
    heard a shot

    "King of my generation
    don't go down the stairs
    drink the water of imortality
    to beat the time"

    God had his eye
    on a lad in Sfakia
and his mum in the netherworld
draw a big scar (as a borderline!)

    "King for my generation
with the sun on your hair
    don't pass the scar
    life is sweeter"
