artist: OZone
info: they are a Romanian group that released this song towards the end of 2003. the "fat guy," Gary Brolsma recorded himself singing the song and made it famous online. an italian group name haiducii also have a version of this song and both parties accuse the other of stealing the song.

The song’s original name is Dragostea Din Tei, and yes, it is in Romanian. It’s by O zone.
And I believe there’s a slight mistake in the translation. In that context, "haiduc" means "duke" or something like that. |

it was originally a Hebrew song, back before the lyrics got messed with and made into a pop song. I don’t know how closely the romanian and hebrew languages are related (offhand, i’d say not much), so i find it kind of weird that it evolved into such a thing. I also don’t know much about romanian pop music or where they get their source material, so maybe it’s pretty common. |
