I'll try to help you, but don't think that Greeks speak better! The most don't know the rules and they speak correctly only from the experience, cause they grew up with this language It's very rich and difficult language.

I'm trying to learn turkish and bulgarian. Difficult languages but i think i'll manage to learn them. Really the things i said were correct? Haha I thought they were wrong

No you are quite good for a three week study of turkish! If you have any questions, I will help you, too. There is no article problem in Turkish, I think this is the best thing when learning a language. I am sure greeks don't speak correctly all the time, greek has a very detailed grammar I think. It is a hard work to study all grammatical rules.

Hello people! I am reading your posts here in this thread and i am trying to learn both turkish and greek (Maria, you know me from greek grammar thread ). i have been trying to learn turkish since 2003, like all of you, listening turkish songs and from the translations I'm trying to learn something... i am learning turkish by myself since then coz there aren't turkish classes where i live (Brazil southern) and i don't know if i am being successful anyway, i couldn't understand what you wrote here "çok naziksin" but i can understand an identify some verbal tenses, basics words and so on... but unfortunately they are not enough for me (last year i visited Türkiye and i couldn't speak a little turkish, i must confess i was ashamed too)
and about greek i started to learn more or less 3 weeks ago too... as my native language is portuguese, i think greek grammar is a little bit easier than turkish for me (coz portuguese has many greek word basis). But i love both languages and as you all said here if we really want to learn, we will learn" I am learning many things here with you!

Lessena mou, of course I know you glikia mou. Keep trying and you'll learn something. I tried, but not very hard cause I had exams, but I've learnt something. I can understand some words or phrases. Don't think that I can speak well. Alper can tell you that I'm awful and I kill his language, but it's still the beginning and I'm trying to learn by myself. I think that "çok naziksın" means something like "very kind", but i'm not so sure. Anyway, I was in Turkey last may and believe me I didn't know even a single word. I hope that when I'll go again I will be able to speak fluently (big ambition).

So, about greek, yeah it's in the same category with your language (in the indo-european category). And it's more close to you that turkish, but this doesn't mean that it's an easy language. I think turkish is more easy cause it doesn't have articles, genters or irregular verbs, but greek has and we decline the nouns, articles, partciples, adjectives, pronouns and there are many exceptions. The difficult thing in turkish (at least for me) is that they have in their words vowel from the same category and that they add in their words one or more endings which change the meaning. To speak the truth this is killing me.

I agree with maria, Turkish is easier! Cause doesn't have any articles! Lesenna I'm seda from sarbel forum, I know you want to learn turkish, I will help you and maria anytime you want. çok naziksin means "you are very kind". I'm learning greek, too and it is very difficult to speak. Maybe we can learn something from each other here. The first thing to do is not giving up I think and all of us are so willing to learn. We have no obstacle!

Haha thank you. But I'm not so sure. As I said before the endings of the words are killing me. I can understand a word but with the endings yok. For example I know that gül in turkish is rose, but in a song I saw gülen, so I cannot understand. But I m willing to learn and I said that will is the most importand thing when you try to learn a language.

"gül" has two meanings in turkish. One of them is a noun. "gül" meaning rose is a noun for example. But "gülen" is a verb which is attached by a participle suffix. The stem of the verb is "gülmek"; means "to laugh, to smile". Don't worry about endings, it is mostly related with the phonetic features of the letters. If you solve it, it will be easier. For example, I learned greek alphabet and I can read it even though there are some additional reading rules. they are related to phonetic features of letters, I know phonetics, so I didn't have big problems while learning to read. Always ask questions about your problems with turkish. I believe you will learn it in a little while.

Rica ederim canım. ("canım" is used very often in everyday speech in turkish. It means "sweety, honey") I know you don't understand. I wrote it to teach you "çok şirinsin." It's the same as "çok tatlısın." The same meaning

Of course I know aşkım To tell the truth it's the first turkish word I've learnt and the second it's seni seviyorum (of course!)

Are you kidding me? If I had a turk as a boyfriend I would be dead right now (hihihi I'm just joking...)

Turks are always reflected as "killers". I will not defence my nation because everybody thinks what she/he wants. But everyone should look at her/his own history first... Okaaay this is not the right place to talk about this kind of things but I'm a bit hurt about your joke. There is famous turkish proverb: There is a seriousness beneath every joke. Ok I talked a lot, anyway, let's deal with our songs and translations
