Ah nice bir uyursun uyanmaz mısın
Göçtü kervan kaldık dağlar başında
Çağrışı tellallar inanmaz mısın
Göçtü kervan kaldık dağlar başında

Emr-i hac göçeli hayli zamandır
Muhammed cümleye dindir imandır
Delilsiz gidilmez yollar yamandır
Göçtü kervan kaldık dağlar başında

Yunus sen bu dünyaya niye geldin
Gece gündüz Hakkı zikretsin dilin
Enbiyaya uğramaz ise yolun

the town criers are calling up, dont you believe**

Emr-i hac göçeli hayli zamandır
It has been a long time since Emr-i hac vanished***
Muhammed cümleye dindir imandır
Mohammed is the religion and faith of everyone****
Delilsiz gidilmez yollar yamandır
The roads are undamageable, brave
Göçtü kervan kaldık dağlar başında
The caravan broke down, we got stuck on top of mountains

Yunus sen bu dünyaya niye geldin
Yunus, What is your purpose in life?
Gece gündüz Hakkı zikretsin dilin
You tongue shall pray to God day and night
Enbiyaya uğramaz ise yolun
If your way doesnt pass by the prophets
Göçtü kervan kaldık dağlar başında
Then the caravan broke down, we got stuckon top of mountains


*This is not a poem, it is a religous song! Here the real meaning is that people are created by God and if they lose their faith, they will be like a bunch of unprotected people on the top of mountains.
**This is a reference to prophets.
*** This means, that since the creation of the world and Adam/Eve couple, we should have had faith, but we are a bit late. (I dont know where that leaves me since the last thing I am is religious.. haha)
**** The islamic prophet. (oh, for God;s sake, dont you think he needs to come off it? I mean if Mohammed is the only way then where does that leave rest of the world?? I dont get these people!!)

[Neslihan]

This poet was born in 1240, and is one of the milestones of Turkish Literature even today. He wrote about people's purpose in life and their relationships with God and eachother. He lived at a time when there was a lot of corruption as well as political and religious conflicts in the country, so he hoped to change peoples behaviours in a good way through religious literature.
