yok başka yerin lütfu ne yazdan ne de kıştan
no other place has grace neither in summer nor in winter
bir tatlı huzur almaya geldik kalamış'tan, ah kalamış'tan
we came to enjoy the sweet tranquility of kalamış
yok zerre teselli ne gülüşten ne bakıştan
there's no bit of consolation neither in laughs nor in looks
bir tatlı huzur almaya geldik kalamış'tan, ah kalamış'tan
istanbul'u sevmezse gönül aşkı ne anlar
what does the heart know of love if it doesn't love istanbul
düşsün suya yer yer erisin eski zamanlar
let the old times fall down on the water here and there and melt
sarsın bizi akşamda şarap rengi dumanlar
let the wine colored smokes surround us in the evening
bir tatlı huzur almaya geldik kalamış'tan, ah kalamış'tan.
of of fethettiniz ay parlayarak sen gülerekten (*)
the moon shining and you laughing conquered (me)
gündüz koya sen gel gece kalsın aya nöbet of
you come to the bay in the daytime, be it the moon's turn in the night
ses çıkmıyor artık ne kürekten ne yürekten
no sound comes anymore neither from the oars nor from the heart
emret güzelim istediğin şarkıyı emret of of
order me, my beauty, order me any song you want (or, the song you want)
bir tatlı huzur almaya geldik kalamış'tan ah kalamış'tan.

(*) the use of suffix -ten here is considered wrong, or at least redundant. we say "koşarak geldi (he came running)" not "koşaraktan" or "hikayeyi gülerek anlattı (he told the story laughing)" not "gülerekten" or "yüzümüme bakarak konuş (talk to me looking at my face)" not "bakaraktan". since "parlayarak (shining)" is constructed correctly, it might be because of keeping the metric and/or the rhyme.
note: there's a widely known folk song with the same flaw.
tek tek basaraktan
bade süzerekten
inci dizerekten
gel canım gel amman
which means
stepping one by one (ie, walking as such)
straining wine
threading pearls
come my soul, come
(yes, i completely agree: it's nonsense but if you ever know a woman that can do as the song instructs, i most eagerly want to meet her. so let's pretend not to see the grammatical mistake in it.)
