1. karahisar literally means the black fortress.
2. bayramlaşmak is actually to exchange greetings on the occasion of a religious holiday (ie., bairam. there are two of it: ramadan and sacrifice). this meaning may also be intended, as the hennaed ram suggests, but i favor the meaning in the translation.
3. as a sign of sacrifice in the bairam of sacrifice.
4. here infidel isn't used in its literal sense, it figuratively means obstinate. please look up gavur inadı
5. or, afyon roofs, but that doesn't seem to make much sense to me. dam is another word for prison.
