The hours of pain have yielded good,
    Which prosperous days refused;
As herbs, though scentless when entire,
    Spread fragrance when they’re bruised.

to Zahra2008: I've made some changes to the translation.
    to ab123:
    the educated and the cheif
    a dress, scarf and drinks
    high-class people and beggars..

Now this is what they generally mean, because this is really truly Egyptian, so some Arabs might not understand it clearly, so I did my best
The hours of pain have yielded good,
    Which prosperous days refused;
As herbs, though scentless when entire,
    Spread fragrance when they’re bruised.

    Default some modifcations.

Sooooo nice work sohuda, you did a good job, only minor changes are needed and the reason is, as you mentioned, the colloquial egyptian arabic ... if you don’t mind, I will, suggest some modifications on your version. And I hope that you'll accept it .
    p.s. Modifications are in bold.

    - fat kam sana men 3omrena? men 3omr fer2a etkawwenet bs leeha kam sana.
    - How many years have passed from our life? From the life of a band that's just formed since only few years.

' shofna kteer m3a ba3dena, bs zay ma7na shofna ento shftom zayyina

    - shofna eeh f-wist el balad? w-3refna meen f-wist el balad?
    - What did we saw in downtown! and whom did we knew in downtown!

    - shofna el mesafer, wl-mehager, wl-2orayyib, wl- be3eed, wl-mothaqqaf, wl-3ameed.
    Shofna-lly mobde3 w-lly faker enno mobde3.
    shofna 3emma-w gllabyya.
    shofna tar7a-w mashrbyya.
    shofna badla-w jeans-w 7areem agnabyya
    - We saw the passenger, the emigrant, the close, the far/enemy, the educated and the brigadier general*.
We saw that who is a creative and that who thought himself a creative. We saw a turban and a dress (traditional wear).
We saw a scarf and an oriel (the wooden arabisc window).
we saw a suit, jeans and foreign women

    - Kheeratyyah**, fananeen 3ly flla7een.
    bashwat 3la zabbaliin.
    me-sse3iid w ba7rawyya.
    - [we saw] Parasitical people.
    [we saw] artists & farmers.
[we saw] high-class people/or pashas*** and garbage collectors.
[we saw people] from upper and lower Egypt.

    * I think they meant, by "3amiid": the military rank; brigadier general.
** kheeratyyah: they're parasitical people, who try to make use of tourists by offering "help" *thumb down* , mostly found in downtown & around sightseeing, so they are not good people ]
*** pashas : pasha is that title was granted during the ottomans.
