    Hey Christian,

Yes indeed, some songs are poems and exact translation is very difficult. Other problems you might find with pop songs is that some words might not exist...they could mean nothing or mean some suburbs and persons (usual in rap songs) or some manipulation of words to make the rhyme

Dalaras is very good, I personally like Pyx Lax (in ancient greek means "with punches and kicks") and Alkinoos Ioannidis (he has very nice songs)

    Cheers,
    Vasilis

    Hey Vasili !

Thank you very much for your quick reply and your translation and comments.
I 'study' Greek language with 10 other Dutch students who all love Greece and Greek culture. Untill 1½ year ago we had a Greek teacher, but he quit.
Since I was the best student, I automatically became 'teacher'. I just made a CD with Greek songs to translate. I firts chose the songs (Dalaras is my hero since 20 or more years) and then started to look for the lyrics and translation on websites. You're right, many songs are difficult to translate properly, because they are poems. Maybe we should start with modern popsongs because they have easier lyrics most of the time. Well, we have a lot of fun learning Greek anyway!

    Thank you, Kris van Hoeckel
