Το τριαντάφυλλο στο στήθος


Είχε σημάνει ο εσπερινός θυμάμαι
που γέμισε ο ουρανός πουλιά
Καθώς στεκόσουν πλάϊ μου θυμάμαι
σε πήρα και σε σήκωσα ψηλά

Κυλάν τα σύννεφα και τρέχει η φωνή μου
να την ακούσεις και να 'ρθεις
Και μες στο κήπο αφήνω το κορμί μου
κρυμμένο στα λουλούδια να το βρεις

Σ' αναζητώ κάθε πρωί στο περιβόλι
Με τη δροσιά, με το νοτιά καίγομαι όλη
Δυό τριαντάφυλλα μαζεύω στη ποδιά μου
που σαν έρθεις να μυρίζουν τα μαλλιά μου

Για δες τη νύχτα πως ο κήπος μας δακρύζει
καθώς ο αγέρας το τραγούδι σου σφυρίζει

the bell had rung for vespers, I remember

when the sky got filled with birds
Καθώς στεκόσουν πλάϊ μου θυμάμαι
/ kathos stekosoun plai mou, thimame
while you were standing by my side, I remember
σε πήρα και σε σήκωσα ψηλά
/ se pira ke se sikosa psila
I got hold of you and raised you high-up

Κυλάν τα σύννεφα και τρέχει η φωνή μου
/ kilan ta sinnefa ke trehi i foni mou
the clouds are rolling and my voice pours out (streams)
να την ακούσεις και να 'ρθεις
/ na tin akousis ke na 'rthis
for you to hear it and come

Και μες στον κήπο αφήνω το κορμί μου
/ ke mes ston kipo, afino to kormi mou
and in the garden, I rest my body
κρυμμένο στα λουλούδια να το βρεις
/ krimeno sta llouloudia, na to vris
hidden amongst the flowers, for you to find

Σ' αναζητώ κάθε πρωί στο περιβόλι
/ s' anazito kathe proi sto perivoli
I look for you every morning in the orchard
Με τη δροσιά, με το νοτιά καίγομαι όλη
/ me ti drosia, me to notia, kegome oli
with the "freshness", with the "south wind", all of me is burning
Δυό τριαντάφυλλα μαζεύω στην ποδιά μου
/ dio trantafila mazevo stin podia mou
two roses I gather together in my lap
που σαν έρθεις να μυρίζουν τα μαλλιά μου
/ pou san erthis na mirizoun ta malia mou
my hair to scent, for when you come

Για δες τη νύχτα πως ο κήπος μας δακρύζει
/ ya des ti nihta pos o kipos mas dakrizi
have a look how at night our garden cries
καθώς ο αγέρας το τραγούδι σου σφυρίζει
/ kathos o ayeras to tragoudi sou sfirizi
while the breeze whistles your song

Well, ... I explained "Μη κακό σου" another time ... a "Cypriot" endearment of "may you be out of harms way" ... literally I guess it means "no harm to you" ... something very much a "mother would say to her child" ... as Cypriots are "motherly" like that to "close" people ... ... ... and "καφούρα μου" ... is an "endearment" ... gone nowadays ... I used to hear my Grandmother, say this to all her grand-daughters ... I do believe it means "the soft, fresh core of something" ... like of bread ?!? ...

I felt "high" today ... (and I always said "no" to drugs, by the way ... ) ... !!! ... when I say "feeling high" ... I DO mean, a very "natural high" (no alcohol either ... ) ... ... ... ...

Knowing that I was going to "meet" you again maybe tonight ... had MUSIC ... ATLAST !!! ... loud music to surround me !!! ... It just takes me up ... a "Northern Whirlwind" and Music ... was just ... ecstatic ... ...

Played some drums too ... AGES since I did THAT !!! ... I have to start some proper lessons for that too ... LOL ... though I should be careful NOT to use my "carving tools" to play .... hahahaha
