So, this is a song from the late 80s. at least that's when i discovered it. It was such an important part of my growing up. my father played it often and was clearly dedicating it to my mother... but since both my parents have passed on... I can't ask them. now, this song's been in my head everyday for a while now. If anyone knows it or has any clue who the artist might be (it was an r&b song, closer to motown sounds than present day r&b), i will be eternally grateful to you. I vaguely(and inaccurately!)remember bits of some verses and the the chorus. It went something like this:
"If today was forever
We would see so clear
The mountains standing in the distance
[The love we that we had]
But that's not the way the story goes
I got so used to being around you
Everyday was so.... [something]
[... ... ... another forgotten line]
But that's not the way the story goes
Chorus:
With all my love
I wish the best for you
I hope that every dream you have will always come true
With all my love
I will keep holding on to you
Until you see there's none like me
With all my love
You say that you feel crowded
You need some time alone
You're not ready to settle down
And make this house a home
I guess that's not the way the story goes
[another verse]
[chorus]
Bridge:
I'm lost without your love
[.... forgotten line]
[... forgotten line]
Hold me and do it for me
Come back now and ease this misery
[chorus]
[chorus etc to fade]
If this rings any vague bells to anybody, please drop me a line here. I've searched as many lyrics websites as I can stand to no avail.
Cheers,
With thanks,
Sibz!
