    Default In Case of Emergency

Standing so fast that the wall crumbles.
You fall and you smack your head on your life.
    Wake up wondering what happened.
    Friends will ask the same.

Traveling at the speed of your conscience.
Taking the freeway whenever it comes to view.
Run down the gravel without words.
Just call and I'll be there.

In case of emergency break the status quo,
you have to get out if you want more!

So when the grass greens both sides,
    and the stars collide,
    we'll watch from the river,
    across the Great Divide.
    Hopefully our paths cross again,
I'd like to see that happen.
    Maybe one day we'll see,
    where we always have been.

Break down on the tracks of metal,
scorching in the hot Nevada sun.
We'll watch it burn and plead for mercy.
    We should've done something.
But at least we have each other.

I'll send a postcard to you from here.
You'll send it back with a smile sealed on top.
I'll travel to see you wherever you are.
You'll encourage me to walk every mile.
    What would I without you?

I've always wondered what bliss was.
I've always tried to find joy.
I looked in the nooks and crannies,
but that wasn't the right way.
What I wanted was right in front of me every day.

    Yep, lots of thoughts
... Btw, I'm sure a lot of people read and enjoy various posts here without taking the time to comment, which is maybe not good but this section is a treasure-trove of great creative writing, and yours are some of the very best.

So what can I say about this? I have no criticisms or recommendations at all. It's straightforward but it's also rich and luxurious with literal and metaphorical imagery. And the opening mental somersault riveted me in about a second: Standing so fast that the wall crumbles ..... smack your head on life.

Philosophiically I like the way it ends too, because it leads me to ponder: How far do we need to look back to see exactly what (which or who) it was that we wanted (or needed most), that was standing right in front of us the whole time?

    I love this!!
