Hi, we want to sing the czech song "Okolo Hradišča voděnka teče".
There are some translations in the net, so that I understand the main topic.
But, what is "šohajek" in English or German ? I couldn't find it.
Btw. there are some variants in the lyrics (e.g. ide k nám šohajek, cosi ně nese/skazal ne synecek ...) and others.
Which is the main version ?

Okolo Hradišča voděnka teče - šohajek
-
šohajek or šohaj - means young man, handsome man, boyfriend or like this
i don't know this song myself, but there can be more variants. folk songs have no (known) author and they are sang among people for a long time, so there can be regional differences -
Thank you, maja
Thank you, maja, it fits into the lyrics.
Here is one version:
Okolo Hradišča voděnka teče,
ide k nám šohajek, cosi ně nese,
nese ně lásku svázanú v šátku,
milovala sem ťa, zlatý obrázku.
Milovala sem ťa, bylo to špásem,
nevěděl šohajek, že falešná sem.
Falešná byla švarná děvčina,
nevěděl šohajek, jaká příčina.
Tá moja príčina taková byla,
že ně mamulka velice lála.
Nelaj ně, mamko, ide k nám Janko,
mosím mu nachystat za širák pérko.

water flows around Hradiště,
boy is coming toward us, he brings something for me,
he brings me his love bound in showl,
i loved you golden picture.
i loved you, it was just fun,
boy didn't know, that i was false,
pretty girl was false,
boy didn't know the reason.
the reason was,
that my mother vituperated me a lot.
do not vituperate me, mother, John is coming,
i must prepare feather on his hat.
