    Default 'Moonlit, Shadowless Night'

All the stars have taken the light
    From the moonlit shadowless night.
All the people have fallen asleep,
None have stayed awake like me,

To wreep the light from those lit stars,
Just enough to last until morn'
Where I not only see the light,
But feel and hear it's horn.

Like a wild trumpetier it plays,
Dances in the wind and never stays,
For nightfall will come, bright first
Then the light is again stolen away.

I beg it to stay, to shed downright
A glance from the heavens, an eye
And eye to cast a glance through the dark,
And gaze at the stars in the sky.

Wow,this is so nice.May I ask you a question? In line #8,you mention a "Horn".Was it a Fog Horn or a "literary horn"?Out here on the Barbary Coast,we actually hear Fog Horns,in the morning.I think Van Morrison talks of them in "Into the Mystic".Either way, fine work, short and to the point, but sweet, all the same.I looked at your other work, and I wouldn't know what to say.Whatever Frankie J. says,I agree. That's called "playing it safe".

Yeah them Irish, they hear all kinds of strange stuff in the dark.
(I'm a "cousin" so I can say stuff like that, especially after a coupla pints.)

I was inclined to take the horn as metaphorical....?
There is no glamour in sudden death, and nobody ever wins a war.
