    Default Stan

    Still remember the day
When the Boss called me in
    He said "Stan I'm sorry"
    and I spiralled down again

And I landed, on America's deadend
Where everything I own is in my pockets
and everything I had is in my head

    They say white collar crime
    is always victimless
Then why does the new minority
    have no fixed address

I've just landed, on America's deadend

    Now I walk the streets
    I hear "get a job"
Well I've had 3 this year
and been laid off from them all

And I landed, on America's deadend

    I look into Exxon's mirror
want to cut under the chin
    instead I shave the beard
and try and wash away where I live

    I've fallen so far
    Forgotten everything I've lost
That the best part of my day
is smoking the butt you just tossed

I've just landed, on America's deadend

When they do a new class study
They'll have to lower the bar
Cause the new lower class lives in the alley
the new middle in their car

That crack you might slip through
    Is now a mile wide
So I'll see you in the Colosseum
where 1% can watch us fight

I've just landed, on America's deadend
Where everything I own is in my pockets
and everything I had is in my head

@orsen: Wow. So good! I wonder: Where in the world did you come up with this angle if you didn't go through it yourself? It sounds like a true, firsthand account. Your poetry is good. I love the three-line hook. I also love the Colosseum reference. (Oh, and the 4-line verse above that is great, too--guess I pretty much like it all!) Congratulations. Good work!
