I pitched this song to Mindy McCready.

    I'm an old-fashion girl
I'm driven by the basic needs
I need a man to tame my body
    And ease my mind
I need a man to hold me close
    Whisper in my ear
    I need a man who's understanding
    Gentle and kind

    Please! Please! Somebody Love Me!
Somebody make a move and take away this hate
    Please! Please! Somebody Love Me!
Somebody love me now before it's too late

I was hurt before in a one-way love
    I get lonely
I get bitter when I think about
    The way I was done
I go crazy when I'm by myself
It's tough being on my own
I go crazy with just the thought
    Of sleeping alone

    Please! Please! Somebody Love Me!
Somebody calm me down and put a leash on my pride
    Please! Please! Somebody Love Me!
Somebody drive away these demons inside

    solo

    I'm co-dependent, suicidal, schizophrenic
    My worst enemy
    I'm going postal
If somebody doesn't pay some attention to me

    I'm an old-fashion girl
I'm driven by the basic needs
I need a man to tame my body
    And ease my mind
I need a man to hold me close
    Whisper in my ear
    I need a man who's understanding
    Gentle and kind

    Please! Please! Somebody Love Me!
Somebody make a move and take away this hate
    Please! Please! Somebody Love Me!
Somebody love me now before it's too late
Somebody love me now before it's too late

How's somebody going to love you if you don't love yourself?I think RuPaul says this on his show "Drag Race".The line "take away this hate"I assume is being said by the vocalist to herself, correct? This is a a little heavy,I wish you luck on it being recorded.

I like most of the song. A girl hurt by past experiences and crying out for real love makes a lot of sense to me. The 'hate-line' Doug referred to is a bit heavy, but not nearly as heavy as the bridge. I feel it is not in keeping with the rest of the song. Here she no longer portrays herself as an ordinary girl who has had a rough deal, but someone with a severe mental disorder. Somebody who is suicidal and schizophrenic does not need a man to hold her close, but serious psychiatric treatment.

Now that Peter has brought up this great point,I think that may be exactly what Jim had in mind. You seem to know what a writer is trying to say, hats off to you,Sir!
