    Default Distant Yesterday

I really don't know what this song means or is talking about, it kind of came to me a few months ago and I never really thought much of it other than the fact that it had a nice rhythm. I plan on changing some of these lines even adding to it but I wanted to post it to see if anyone has any ideas for it.

    Intro"
Don't you think you could run
    You could runaway
    Back to some distant
    some distant yesterday
In a world where people are not afraid
    To say what they believe

Is this the start of a new
    Of a new age
    One filled with endless
    Endless rage
Is this the day we all fall?
Is this the day we all crawl?
    Into the holes that we
    We dug ourselves
Is this the place where we
    We will all dwell
    When we pass away
    When we fall into decay
    " Chorus"
Don't you think you could run
    You could runaway
    Back to some distant
    Some distant yesterday
In a world where people are not afraid
    To say what they believe

In a world so far, so far away
Could we find the peace we
    Never thought could be
And would we look upon it
As if it was so ironic

    I hope one day
We figure out what to say
    And understand that
We're living in an empty frame
    Everyday waiting to be filled
    Every moment waiting
    To become real
    " Chorus"
Don't you think you could run
    You could runaway
    Back to some distant
    Some distant yesterday
In a world where people are not afraid
    To say what they believe
Don't you think you could run
    You could runaway
    Back to some distant
    Some distant yesterday
In a world where people are not afraid
    To say what they believe

Maybe it's just me, seriously it's probably just be me lol, but I don't see much of a connection between the two verses. I can't really put my finger on it... but something is a little off when I read them. If you were to tweak this song a little more please leave the first verse as it is because I see it as a strong point. As for the Chorus, I think that part is solid! I can imagine it sang awesomely over some sort of broken modern rock beat. Kudos!

I absolutely agree with you it's lacking a connection and that's mainly because I wrote one verse and them 3 months later the other haha so I'm trying to rekindle the purpose of this song so I can rewrite a 2nd verse.

I like that line and here you looked upon it like it was so ironic but everything else needs to be reworked in verse 2

This is how I imagine the music to be: Dark, menacing verse with a low, grunting guitar and tribal drums. Then the chorus: release! Soaring vocals with a gospel-like feel. Don't you think you could run (background vocals: you could run!).You could runaway (background vocals: runaway!)

Thats an awesome idea when I read your comment I could hear the song in my head sung that way it would have a pretty epic sound.

Indeed, Peter! First the menacing tone, than the setting free moment, a brilliant idea!
They don't contradict, Sweater, it's just a build-up to a climax in the chorus.
    Music will do the rest.
    Fine, fine indeed!
