Hi, this is actually my first post on this forum!
I just wrote a kinda "Dire Straits-ish" kinda guitar piece, and sat down to try to write some words to it. It is like my second song text i've ever written.
English is not my first language, so beware of some grammatical errors
I kinda had refugees in mind when writing this. And my country just got a new far-right government, with a somewhat hatred towards other cultures.
The forgotten land
(vers)
Once there was a young boy,
with a life of sunshine and love
careless of the world around
His smile was shining, hardly ever frowns
(vers)
You understand, he said
We've got a house, a dog and a goat at home
my life is full, but you dont know
my mom cries like a mourning dove
(ref)
To god we pray
And to ourselves we say
Someone has forgotten us (someone has forgotten us)
In a land of beauty and once peace
The white man came, and then we ceased
(vers)
One night
when the boy was asleep
It flashed so bright,
and a sound so deep
Mom came in, said we gotta leave
now his heart is full with grief
(vers)
Somewhere to the west, far from his home
They spoke to a man, said youre not welcome
He miss his dog, and he misses the sand
He is always wondering, where is his land
(ref)
To god we pray
And to ourselves we say
Someone has forgotten us (someone has forgotten us)
In a land of beauty and once peace
The white man came, and then we ceased
solo
(vers)
Its now six years ago, he is almost grown
In the west, mom is long gone
with a weapon in his hand, and in his own piece of sand
He will forever fight for his forgotten land.
