Are we like fish?
Staring off into space
Peering upon a falling star making our wish
While searching for something to embrace
Could this world be our tank?
And the man above us creates our fate
And everything we have is for us to thank
For he gave us life and a clean slate
Does he sprinkle food twice a day?
Giving us life so we can live another night
And find some moment that we can play
While living in a world of endless fright
How do we know we're not in a dark room?
With nothing, but a memory of the stars
Illustrating our night sky like flowers in bloom
Oh, ancient light you have come so far
To illuminate the sky of oozing scars
To point the direction to sail our ships
You're the light that shows us who we are
In the darkness of this eclipse
But what if that light no longer exists?
And we are merely fish
With answers pouring forth from the scientists
Who tells us what life is against our wish
And nothing we do or say
Seems to make a difference
Who our we when others have their way?
How can we survive with such decadence?
We reach our hand up to the sky
Hoping that we will conquer space
Knowing that it is just to high
Something that we can hardly embrace
Our phones our tv's our books predict our futures
As we do nothing to move forward
We are boundless creatures
With progress in the shape of a sword
War is all we have, war is all we can do
So many lose their lives for the undeserving
So many die for the untrue
It seems that we are dissipating
As we continue to abuse
Those who have given us everything
And have happily gone to use
To preserve our freedom for anything
We are stuck behind this thick glass
A world of beauty lies afar
But we are stuck in a science class
Being studied like a creature in a jar
Will we ever open our eyes?
And notice our reflection
Cleverly disguised
In the glass that contains the recollection
Of who we are
And who we're meant to be
We can heal our scars
And find a way to see
Beyond the darkness
Beyond the haze
Beyond the emptiness
Beyond the daze
This is the world
This is who we are
But we can wake up
We can wake up

Are We Like Fish
There is not enough space or time to truly let the song unwind -
Like most of my poems and song this was inspired by "The Hollow Men". I wouldn't consider this poem completed I've been writing it for a year now off an on. More will be added more will be changed but this is it so far...

Damn this is fantastic! This is the kind of stuff that really makes people think in a different way, a deeper way. I love it! And I think everyone else who reads it will be moved and enjoy it just as much as I did
fantastic job sweetie
