It's a Greek statue
Half in ruins
Arms missing
Headless virgin
A relic from ancient Greece
But still a modern idea
Somehow it expresses
The sense of loss we feel
Winged Victory
The good times fly away
They don't last forever
Success has its day
It dissolves before our eyes
It slides into history
Disappears like a bird
Winged Victory
I thought I had arrived
Earned my degree
Then I learned
About entropy
A modern day Sisyphus
It all went in the ground
All of my achievements
Were meant to tumble down
Winged Victory
The good times fly away
They don't last forever
Success has its day
It dissolves before our eyes
It slides into history
Disappears like a bird
Winged Victory
I stood helplessly by
Steeped in pain
As my marriage
Went down the drain
I lost my job and house
They took away my son
I nearly lost my mind
Before the courts were done
Winged Victory
The good times fly away
They don't last forever
Success has its day
It dissolves before our eyes
It slides into history
Disappears like a bird
Winged Victory
Bridge:
Civilizations
Rise and fall
Leaving us to ask
Is this all?
Human condition
Reality
Curse our situation
Mortality
Organ
We're like Ozymandias
Our works lay in the sand
Testaments to decay
A decadence so grand
Living for the future
Working like slaves
Everything so futile
As we face the grave
Winged Victory
The good times fly away
They don't last forever
Success has its day
It dissolves before our eyes
It slides into history
Disappears like a bird
Winged Victory

This is what is really the blues should be about, ar least sometimes. It's like a Cosmos (as above so below as well as the show) look at life. It's one thing to have the blues cause ur babe lunloaded you, but this speaks to the overarching and overaching thirst of the human spirirt and you imbued your personal story embroidered through there. That entropy line killed me. (Made me laugh and cry). The title almost made me think I was in for a war story - but the war is for meaning. i've overused the bird metaphor for freedom, and here you showed me how the bird can fly away with history and it's supposed grandeur. Life is grand and so are accomplishments, but all is miniaturized before time and death. But it's not morbid, but a great teacher and equalizer. This is full of irony and challenge.
I'll have to some look-ups for some those names - then I'll probably find other things that rock my foundations. This must be an ancient project?!
Thank you for sharing your good effort! I think it's great.
